I like the idea, comcis need some diversity.

What does everyone else think?
Same. We DO needs more diversity in and outside the panels of comics. Little late to the party tho but that's okay.

My first reaction to the new Spider-man was absolute rejection: Who is this looser and why does he think he can take Peter's place?
But after the first issues Miles really grew on me. He's a great character, and I'm glad he's not just a search for diversity.

I was so excited for Miles, and he's such a cute kid! And they chose an awesome artist,.

And when I first heard about it I was pretty stoked, I mean comics need stuff like this, a little diversity goes a long way, I think he's up to issue...7 now? And Miles!Spider-man is already in a game! (Pretty sure it's a kid game, or a toy, I can't quite remember)

As iconic as Peter Parker is, if he has to die then I think it's really good for someone who's not white to take his place. And I don't personally feel they killed Peter off "just for diversity" they gave him a really good death; like honourable and it was done well, it wasn't just some thoughtless kill. Plus Miles isn't just good for diversity he's a good step for an actual modern superhero. I'd also say in those first few issues he's been pretty relatable.

Plus it's not even the main universe, so /shrug if you don't like it you can dismiss it pretty easily it's not exactly main canon.

And some of the comments on like the comic news sites and facebook especially (******** hell, looking up spider-man in the search engine on facebook that day was a ******** awful decision) are kind of proof that we need this kind of switch up.

What you feel isn't important. The writer said that that's exactly what he did. He wanted a non-white Spiderman, so he killed the white one he already had to make room. It's something he's wanted for a while now, since before Ultimatum, and he finally got the green light for it, even though the story was obviously leading towards Peter joining the Ultimates.
I am ok with Miles... to be honest I would be happy with someone as long as the values are simular (I mean we can't have a bad guy spiderman) but it is good to have a different spider book out there that isn't all Peter Parker and some how tied in with all the other spider books. The reason why I like Ultimate Spider-Man is that it is and was different than the others. I know that the ultimates were just starting to train him but I think it was time for Parker to die and hand his powers off to someone else. It is time that someone other than Peter learn these lessons. For Miles his uncle ben moment was having these powers while Parker was alive and did nothing to help him. The lesson of responsibility was passed to him after Peter died. Now he is going to have a chance to prove him self. This is going to be a good experience for Miles, and for the readers. People need to stop complaining that Peter died and someone else replaced him. You don't like it, then you can switch to the other Spider-Man titles.

I was never a fan of the Ultimate universe because as close as "reality" as they tried to make it, everything seemed so far fetch and unreal, the 616 seemed more plausible.

Ultimate Spider-Man was a series that just seemed like it was trying to be 616 Spider-Man in vein, but changed the line up of events and styles of characters. We all knew the story of Spider-Man, Ultimate was just another variation of what we already knew.

During the events leading up to his death, I thought good riddance to the knock off. I understand he died fighting for what he believed was right and it was a fitting death for any Spider-Man. Risking it all, so other may have a chance.

I was perplexed though that they were going to replace him. I thought how and why? So I saw this kid Miles Morales, an african/hispanic American kid. This was something new, it was different, it was what the Ultimate Universe needed!

I picked up and bought the reboot issue #1 and read each issue leading up to his fight with Electro. And the kid has got heart and has what it takes to be Spider-Man. He knows why he has to become a hero because he saw it go down between Osbourne and Parker, heard what Gwen had to say about him, and even got a lecture from Nick Fury.

He's got potential.

I agree. Miles is worthy successor for Peter and I enjoy reading about him.
And I just love how Peter is Miles' "Uncle Ben" (How weird is that?)
I miss Peter, but this is still an awesome idea and the costume design is the best out of all of Spidey's. I would like it more if Peter was alive and Miles was Spiderboy. Then they can have a whole Spider family in NY with Spiderman, woman, girl and boy.
