suuuu I've started drawing little comics here and there of stories ive made up. just for fun, but I really suck at the placement of word bubbles. Also the amount of words to put in them. I feel like whenever I do it, it looks awkward.

so my question~ does anyone have any tips on how to properly use them, or know of any good references. anything would be highly appreciated-!

It would help to already have an idea of what is going on in the panel, as well as what dialog is being exchanged, before you even touch it.

I know some artists actually start out with the bubbles before they draw anything else, while others don't draw in the bubbles at all and add them in through photoshop after scanning.

Maybe try with a kind of rough panel on a scratch piece of paper to figure out all your placement and dialog first.
