Not for nothing, but if he continues his comic knowing that it's terrible, he's doing a disservice to himself and his readers. It's unlikely that this would be a learning exercise for him at this point if he really hates the project. People exert less effort when they are doing stuff they have no interest in. Why not start a new project? He'd still be practicing.

And also, if he didn't care for his comic, then why is he advertising it in his signature?Sounds contradictory to me. So he knows he's doing bad work but he'll put it in his signature anyway and waste people's time. He's either a jerk or fishing for sympathy. And if that's the case, I'd say they weren't out of line.

I admit I forgot my banner lead to my comic. It's been there for a thousand years and I've been meaning to replace it but I kept forgetting. You're probably right, I must have sounded like an a*****e talking about how I'm tired of my comic while advertising it. I can fix that in a moment.
To be fair though I didn't think this was going to start a whole thing. I expected people would ignore my post and go on to add their own stories to the topic. I wasn't prepared for an event, I didn't ask for anybody's personal opinion and I didn't want it. I obviously brought this on myself and I apologize for derailing the thread. Now lets please just drop this subject.

Sometimes you just grow out of a comic, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Having the strength to end a stagnating comic that you no longer enjoy despite having fans shrieking in your ear means you deserve to get to move on to better things.

I ended my first comic because it was a 'my boyfriend and me but superheroes' shitfest and I'm ending my current one in two chapters when the story is finished. It's tempting to carry it on because I love the characters, but having a 6-7 year project complete sounds pretty much awesome to me.

What would make you quit making a comic or webcomic?

My own incompetence, mostly. I've started several, never finished any. I suck at comics.

I'm a mule.

It takes forever that's why I never finish. crying

i still haven't started my comic that I've been doing for a year in a half. Yeah it's a good story but I'm scared it'll be trumped on and torn apart by critics on gaia. My other reason is that I want to make a written one before i start drawing it but my grammer is horrible. I'm trying to find a grammer book that i can learn from so i can start writting the script.

What would make you quit making a comic or webcomic? Not quit making comics all together, but just a series.

Or maybe in the past you have started a webcomic but decided to quit making it. What caused you to quit?

Would it be flaming/critical reviews, didn't like where the story was going, art, time... you tell me.

And lastly why do you think most creators quit a comic or webcomic series?

Work an real life tend to get in the way of me making my comic. I'll have a vacation, get like 20 pages done, and then not be able to work on the comic for months afterwards.

I know a lot of other comic artists who have had the same issues. Either leaving for school or work and not being able to balance that with the comic, some just having life come in and kick them in the head for a long time can make them drop the ball suddenly. A few just have issues with their writers and one guy I knew, died.

Most just lose track of where they were going, or looked back and realized that the comic sucked or wasn't what they wanted, some just get bored because maybe they weren't as popular as they wanted to be, or got more popular than they wanted to be and couldn't handle the fandom their comic created.

Watching a lot of Hell's Kitchen and general Chef Ramsey shows, sorry if I'm harsh and cus a lot more, I'm easily influenced.

What made me stop was carpal tunnel syndrome.

This month I started up again with someone else doing the artwork, though we're off to kind of a slow, rocky start.

I've stopped so many countless times sweatdrop I guess it because I try to think ahead too much. When I think ahead there are so many possibilites it drives me nuts. confused but i really love drawing manga and writting their dialogues and all. but i can get very lazy at that and i guess that ruins the comic as well.... emo

dont make me slap you

well, making a comic requires a lot of work. Even though I've made a 'routine' i've never really stuck to it.....so, i'm just saying that if u aren't organized, you might not succeed.

Usually, a division (creative, or lack of contact) between myself and my co-creator causes a project to fall apart. This has only happened twice, but both works had a number of years and quite a bit of work behind them. The first is being cycled around, until I can get the will to do it. The second is pretty much scrap.

Both were fun ideas, if a bit generic, and quite long term stories...

My first webcomic involved a loosely knitted web of comrades I'd aquired both IRL and on the net. . . . not my smartest move, but I learned much from the experience. *shrug*

I can't keep track of my schoolwork and anything else at the same time. I have to be all in or all out I guess.

I am also pretty lazy.
