my backgrounds are still abysmal... and nowadays I nearly never use more than 6 panels per page
Boy oh boy. Prepare for eye burn. I've got pictures from 05 - early 09. When I get on the desktop in my house over the weekend i'll definitely post my newest comic pages. This thread is awesome. so sorry they're not in order, but hopefully the later years are easily discernible from the earlier ones.
Yo. As I explained in the free talk there, I'm severely lacking in experience. Haven't kept in practice with comic creation beyond the ABR for a few years.
So, seeing as the ABR is all I really have to show you, that is what you're gonna see!

OH hey, photobucket tells you the date of your entrie! So this is from '07 then.
Durp

And then this is one of my most recent entries. A month or two ago.
Hurp

I'm not gonna lie, the increase in quality is largely due to the fact that I was an EVEN LAZIER d**k back in '07, thus making poor effort.
Not that there was a maximum input of effort into my most recent entry, but damn. Look at that crap.

In case you want to check out the ABR.

Rapidly dying sticky

I have always wanted to do this <3

I was like 12 and this is the first comic i ever made,
User Image
Complete with "sound effects" arrows and numbers to tell you whats happening...I think its rightly named.

Then at 13 MangaMangaManga... This was a set up to make Erin a zombie. I had no idea what would happen after that. And she had no personality...This was when i described my characters as "Normal"...I really did. oh and it read right to left. Yep. gonk

Then i made up cats named after art supplies, Crayon, Pencil, Marker...and lots more, i think there were twelve of them.
User Image
I made allot of them and this is the funniest one Ive got.

Same year, i drew comics about Meko a werecat,
Right to left.
It was for a art class assignment, make a silent comic about your characters daily life...No one understood mine...And now i can see why.
And much later i made a new beginning to it,
Its...better?

Oh and about Meko, I renamed her Mona, Mo for short and came to the CC forum and posted a comic pitch for it (But not the comic)...And sense i still didn't have a plot i just made one up as i posted it. It was horrible, Really lame "Save the town" "Stand up for who you are even if you are a werecat" ending slapped on. But a nice person, Hippie Panda? Helped me. heart

Then last year,
User Image
Now I'm 16 and this is the latest comic page i have made,
User Image
...Huh...

I think my characters have changed allot,
User Image
Now her name is Lauren.
One that keeps changing really quickly is Caley, not so much in appearance but her personality...But she always has been and always will be my little Wikipedia definition of schizophrenic. <3
Here's my art evolution:

User Image

I don't really know what to say about it other than line art and simplicity are characteristic with my art throughout the years. neutral

1993: Matt from my first comic the Honeycomb Gang.
1997: Sailor Sun from my OC that never got a name.
2006: (9 year jump b/c I didn't draw many comics) Miss Grey from my longest running comic, Miss Grey.
2008: Another Matt (what's with that name?) from a Miss Grey Halloween special, "The Ghula Adventure"
2009: Maple's character image from my latest work Momiji. This comic is the one I'm writing for NaNoMangO.
Hahaha.

2002--

...Yeah. This was back in my "I-wanna-be-da-best-mangaka-evar" days, complete with my very special mary sue (well...gary stu, since he's technically male, but barely). He was so pleasantly abusive and sparkly and good at everything, especially getting it on with the main female. (*sigh* This was years before Twilight...I guess in its absence my 14 year old self had to make up my own.) History of my username: I loved this character and named my online presences after him. The character no longer exists but I kept the name for myself.

Anyway, yeah, this was of course written "manga style" right to left. *shame*

2009--

This is from an abandoned project, but it's probably one of my more polished, stylized comic pages of late. It was a tedious style but it looked cool.
SCROLL my pretties... SCROLL!

So yeah, found the oldest art I could find laying around from 2000 to set the uh... start.

2001/2002 I worked on my own book: Book of Sojourns, and my first "real paying gig" Witch Girls by Manga Graphix. I'm so very glad no one has heard of it, and I believe this is the ONLY interior page on the entire net. Ha.

And then 2009....which SHOULD be 2008, but I'm lazy, I was the emergency fill in penciller for Clockwork Girl #4 by Arcana Comics.

Wow, jesus, i was just looking back through some old stuff and found art that I did in 1993. I was 9 years old, and this thing is made with cheap craft water colours and about 30 shades of nail polish (cause I was a pretty princess at that age or something).

Also, before I ever drew cartons, I was big into realism and painting landscapes and horses and stuff, and I wasn't half bad. I started on cartoons because I was used to things I drew turning out awesome, and so when i did my first cartoon, it was utter s**t, which baffled me. So I kept at it until they were no longer utter s**t.

This was also my first painting--after that I convinced my grandma to let me get some acrylics, which was cool.

Aha! This seems like fun! Let's see if I can remember which order this stuff went in . . .

Hm, looking over at my (comic-related) art, not only is there a progression of skill, but I also went through phases throughout my lifetime, so my artstyle and what I drew changed.

Around 2002 (about 13 yrs. old) Obviously, I was into "The Lord of the Rings", and this comic was for an after-school cartooning club at my middle school.

2007 (18 yrs old) Oh, yes, I had a Naruto phase . . . And I was making my own original comic, too!

2008 (18 yrs. old) I used actual images from the show to draw the backgrounds and poses. (If you recognize what this is from, then YAY! wink )

2009 (19 yrs old) Up to date, now! Yes, I'm a history geek. I love to learn about WWII. The bottom image is a page from a comic I'm working on right now. wink

Even with a bunch of comic projects at the back of my head, I don't really have comics for comparison, but I wanted to post something also. XD;;

All great stuff guys, keep it coming! It's always amusing to reflect on how we once drew.
