Omg. Omg! I have a month to make a 32 page short story for Yen Press's Talent Search. I love the story that me and writer are doing and think it's an epic opportunity to becone professional.

So please if you guys have tips on making text or screentones(I really need to learn how to do that on Illustrator...oi) inking or anything else, please post. I really want to make look professional. >x<
I'm not trying to step on your hopes and dreams, but depending on your current skill level, it takes quite a bit of time to make your work look professional. Becoming a great inker takes several years of practice, lettering takes patience and a strong background in the fundamentals of typography, applying screentones correctly requires a knowledge of lights/darks and value, etc.

With that said, there's always Blambot for comic-style fonts and this site for high-resolution screentones. Just remember that even if you got the right tools, you need practice to make really good pieces of work.
I hate to be that guy, but with such a sort time frame, you shouldn't hold your hopes too high. If you're at the level where you need help making text, I don't think you have enough time to make it to pro level in a month. This is doubly true since you have a month to draw the comic, not a month the practice before drawing the comic.

Thing is though, I do tones by hand... it takes a long time for it to be done. And since I know where to get them from, it shouldn't be too hard for me to finish in time.

Do you have the story written out, script style? Have you started drawing the pencils? I ask,not to talk down to you or discourage you, but to highlight that unless you have every other thing down already, I don't think you can pull this off.

32 full complete pages is a lot of work on it's own. It's a Herculean effort when you are also trying to learn a whole new skill set. Everything can be learned, but not everything can be learned quickly. Professional is too much of a stretch with the deadline you have.
I say go for it and to help with the lettering; if it is text of any kind do not cover anything important. People love art out there so don't hide it behind speech bubbles. And with sound effects try to lead the eye to the next panel with the text on the page to make it a bit more smooth.

Good Luck
man 32 is a loooot U_U Uhmm I wish I could help but unfortunately Im seriously far from pro. Just came to wish you good luck and hope you succeed in your quest. biggrin
