SHUT DOWN.

PBS.com accidently shut down.

I was trying to change service providers and the website got killed, I'm working on getting it back up under the new provider but I'm not sure when that will be. ESPECIALLY since because the new provider (and I) fubbed up so hard all the coding for PBS is gone so we're restarting from possibly scratch.

So if you know any cheep providers (around 7$ or less) please let us know.
Or if you know any free providers let us know so we can at least keep the comic up.

In any case I can re-register the PBS.com site in september of 2009 because then my provider HAS to release it, if I can't get them to do it like sometime earlier)

**THINGS TO THINK ON**
A list of things we all need to work on so we'll be a sucsess

TAKEN DOWN 16/01/08 9:00

As I posted in the thread I'm trying to make a "Steps of Comic Book making" sort of thing.
And since I need to compleat step one myself (get 200 pages of comic done) we stay on Hiatus till I'm finished that.

In any case. I'm looking for a Writer for my Comic Pandora, if anyone's interested then PM me and I'll give you the details. I've got the basic idea and general timeline but I'm having trouble starting it off. I'll do a payment of an art exchance. For each page I draw of my creation that you help me with, I'll draw one of your creation.

Still looking for anyone that's bored to help me out with things too.

TAKEN DOWN 11/10/07 10:20pm

You see, there are a few personal things going on in my life right now, Not that you care but I'm taking Japanese classes, got a new boyfriend working full time as a teacher and dong all the day to day living and making mony stuff.

The official PBS cashcount is about $7,000 CND

However I'm going to invest that into property.

I'll officially be returning to Canada in May 2008 as I've signed another contract with my company. Depending on my feelings at the time I may be investing into opening a Maid Cafe in the City where I live or returning to school or taking Voice acting lessons or signing onto a five year contract in Japan as a teacher.

I just don't know yet.

I really want to continue this project but so far it's just been me and Anti as of the past few months. All those who had started this company with me have left. All those who are still here no longer wish to acctually do the grunt work behind it only the fun parts and then abandon the rest.

This is still my dream, this is still my ideal and I will still work to the bitter bankrupt end to try my damndest to make this work, but for now I remove all dates, I retract all agreements and I give no promises.

Post, praise or pity. But I reccomend all of you take a good look at your own studios and your own goals and your own work and see what you will be making of it.

Changed all the print dates, reason Here

OFFICIAL PROJECTS

"Silent"
The challenge project.
FINAL Due Date: UNDECIDED
Print Date: UNDECIDED.

Basically you have to make a comic either with no words, or, minimal words at best (Try to keep it under 10 words per page). Minimum page count is to be 5 not including a cover art for your work. Max is 30.

Unoriginal 2
FINAL Due Date: UNDECIDED
Print Date: UNDECIDED

Anything you want. Examples of work see the last two unoriginals, but we have wearwolf stories, Filler rabbits, RPG jokes. Yaoi induced humor everything. Although we're aiming at a pg-13 kinda rating.

You can send in stuff (PM me first and I'll give you the e-mail to send in) at any time.
DON'T SEND ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT PRINTED.

We'll be sending out contracts before the final due dates. Both final copy and contract is due on the due date. From FINAL due date to Print date be prepaired to make a ton of last minute changes and fixing to your comic. If you are unavalible during this time and doN't give us permission to make our own changes to yur comic wen needed then your comic may be dropped.

To those who are not artistic or don't think they can make the due dates. We have other jobs you may be able to do.

Here's what I'm talking About

Taken Down 9/07/07 10:54 am

Okay Anti is working on the webpage, I'm going to start working on that, re-do alot of that stuff next Thursday/Friday (Possibly as early as Wednesday)

So our next big step is alot of the business stuff. So grab your friends that are totally not Artistc and point them here. Because while we are always looking for artists and writers. Right now we're not.
As you'll see in the rant there are alot of different positions that need to be filled, and the whole reason why we are not bigger then we are is because there is only one person (me) filling those positions (cept the editing for the writing part, I had one person doing that)
So this is also just sort of a word of warning or a cautionary tail to all the other Studio's out there as well. You can have artists coming out the wazoo and they can have talent out their ears but if you can get these positions filled. You're boned.

Taken Down 18/05/07 8;07pm
What's Up:
-I'm the Leader.
-We're working on the webpage
-We're still Hireing
-I'm still going to be a hardass about it.

Other then that once the webpage is up I'm going to issue a Challenge comic. If you're in our group your comic has a garuntee of being in, once it's been thuroughly gone over by the editors. If you're not in the group but want in on the challenge but don't what to deal with the application, you can contest submit, but that means you get one shot only to get your idea in, the editors unless they feel compelled to do so will not look over your work so if it's not good enough or has mistakes it's just out. Hell if it looks like theres interest I'll scrounge togeather a prize for the contest.
What Else.

Oh should I bother to make a Gaia guild for all this or just a Forum off Gaia, I'm thinking Forum off Gaia.

Taken Down 11/04/07 9:23 am

Okay I think I've shaken a few boats. Now let's decide what should be done first.

-Leadership and other positions
-Name
-something else.

This is only going to be up for a short time,

*~*~*~*

Taken Down 11/04/07 1:38 am
THIS FRONT PAGE WILL CHANGE EVERY FEW DAYS: (See next post for past front pages)

Basically I have approached many of the studios on Gaia already, and I'm suggesting a joint studio. So far I have been met with suspicion (I didn't realize how much of a car salesman pitch I had) because there is risk. However with all the studios apart being as small as you are with the mad lack of funding there is already a risk of never printing.

Hence the idea to create a New studio or at lest a publishing company which all the smaller Gaia studio's will be under. This way we can all work together for one common goal and have more support and more workers.

Okay so What are the Benefits?

-Psycho Bunny Studio's is currently working on amassing $40,000 in order to get this studio off the ground ((HOWEVER because this money is coming from personal funding of one individual do not rely on it. This money gives said individual the final say on anything and unless you can outbid them on said project or be able to pay for it yourself then while we pretend it's a democracy... It's not))((but isn't that the way anything works?))

-Joint Studios means you have more people working on a project, more experience and if you set a deadline and some people can't make it there are more people who will be able to pick it up. (This also works in the case of if someone leaves or your studio suddenly collapses and you've got some pissed off artist at your door.)

-You do NOT have to shut down your studio. If you want to keep your studio name and how you operate that's fine. In fact it's prefered, however the big studio will ask for projects from you or assistance on it's projects.

-If your lucky your studio may become the Big Studio! (Name contest)

-Real Lawyers! (wait maybe that should be the drawback...)

Basically the biggest draw for this is the security in numbers and that PBS has printed before so you're getting someone who IS experienced but who's studio is falling apart and this is willing to dismantle and start again from scratch.

Okay there has to be some drawbacks!

-You can't depend on the funding.
At any point PBS might decide to remove the finding, so while it is a dream, it's not a for sure thing (after all I could buy a house with this or go back to school and get a real career instead of trying to publish)
However this leaves you no more ahead or behind then you are now. If anything it puts you ahead because you've met up with all the other studios and were able to get some experience from it and maybe you now have your project done where without the deadline you would have putzed at it for much longer.

-Work getting stolen
This can happen with any of your own studios too unless you know everyone personally (and I mean they live in the same town as you) Can't trust anyone on the internet. And this sort of thing happens with real companies too. Copyright issues suck.
However you can do the poor mans copyright and post your stuff on the internet, watermark it all, or mail it to yourself and not open the envelope until the time comes you need to sue someone.

-Dealing with Real Lawyers.
This is a plus and a negative as due to the nature of legal contracts you need a lawyer to translate them to begin with so whomever is contacting the lawyer and legalizing everything could throw in a few clauses that leave everyone else boned. Hence the need for when people get their contracts to have another lawyer look at them which costs money.
However this all prevents the risk of someone getting screwed in the end.

In either case think it over, debate it here or in your own studios/guilds/pm's tell me what you think, let me address you concerns.

With every golden opportunity it could be fools gold but isn't the dream still worth the risk?

FAQ

Proof of your claims

On the money it's kind of hard to give you a bank statement that can be proven not to have been forged.
Currently I have 4,000$ saved up for this project (well acctualy 400,000¥) and I'm putting in 1000$ (100,000¥) every month. While I understand the concern since there won't be any final say until January when I know the final money count plus I imagine if this does come to frutation the end projects could be shipped to a trusted printer and distributed evenly amongst everyone or something like that.

My team is still debating about this. It seems like such a golden opportunity yet it feels so risky.

Well if you think about it it's in a sense not.
At least for you.

Your studio effectivly stays the same however you now have a deadline to push people towards (January... Well really November 2007 at the latest but yea Janurary 200 cool Then you publish under some other studio. It's no different then printing with a print company that sticks advertasments or their name on your book somewhere. Only you'll be printing with other studios who are doing the same.
If I were to suddenly pull out you are no further behind or ahead then you are currently. (So I reccoment you don't try to expect the funding and continue saving yourselves)
If anything you're ahead because you would have set a final date for yourself so you know even if you don't have any money you've got a final product ready.
When the comic is ready to print there will be legal contracts already done up by a lawyer so you just need to get a notory to sign them or a lawyer to look at them for you.

I'm not asking you to put in money and any time you put in will be assisting youself anyway. The only way you'd get hozed if is I printed and took credit for all the works myself and took all the money. However simply mailing yourself copies of your comic before you send it to print and watermarking things is the cheep man's way of copywriting them so if you were to need to take my a** down for some reason, then you'd be set. ((Especially if you had the contract as well))
Quote:

1) comic
2)???
3) Profit?

Basically to calculate profit it will be price of comic deivided by pages and you get paid for however many pages you did. You and the writer or your studio can work out how the payment goes from there.

BUT

This is after cost. As any publishing book will telly you or business book you won't see any money untill the 3rd print or after the 1st year. You won't even make your investment back so you have to be expected to LOSE alot of money.
For my two comics I've spent $1700 (On printing Alone) I've made back $500 so I'm still $1200 in the hole.
Quote:

AGE ISSUES!

Many people on Gaia and thus in here are going to be under 18 and thus cannot legally sign a contract.

While we have no quams with you hanging out here and using us as a resource it does get a little sticky if you want us to print your work.

However you can still print with us if your underage so long as you have your parents or legal guardians permission.
Yume Yokohama
How will the printing be set up are you planning to running a magazine type thing were from each studio does a chapter a mouth?
Basically like that. (In fact tha's going to be one of the things we vote for after the name) Monthy or every other month each studio (Or idividual) put in something. If we'd run in Magazine style then I'd even be willing to take in alot of short stories and articles or reviews on things as well (However reviews will be difficult unless it's like restaraunt reviews since our due date is 4 months before the print date)
Unless someone know some Gaming executives or something...

(Which oddly enough I do so it is possible.... hummmm)

Quote:
What rating are you willing to work with like T- for teens, PG-16, R that kind of stuff?

To start T I think. If people want to do more adult stuff later we can work that out or your own studios can print them seperately if the other studios don't want to be a part of something like that.

Checklist of things Needing to be Done

(not in order)

Some of the things that need to get done:
•A business plan.
•A Name
•A logo
•A webpage
•choosing a name,
•choosing a leader,

•getting artists and writers and general workers interested,
•writing and proofreading the script,
•producing rough sketches,
•drawing pencils (detailed proofs) of the pages,
•inking the final pages,
•scanning and “touching up” the electronic image files,
•laying out the pages (this includes adding on word balloons if this is being done on the computer),
•coming up with a few samples of potential cover art,
•painting the final cover art,
•soliciting and gathering advertisements (if you’re including them),
•applying for grants to fund the project,
•packaging and shipping to the printer,
•examining the printer’s proofs,
•receiving the published comic,
•mailing copies to people who’ve preordered, media and distributors.
•organizing the launch party.
•organizing promotional tours, signings, conventions.

Think about these, where you can help, what you can do and anything I've missed and a good timeline for it all.

1. That sound very interesting can people that haven’t joined a studio here on gaia join?

2. Will the studios get paid for there work or is this more of a volunteer type of thing?

Whoo long live PBS! :]

1. That sound very interesting can people that haven’t joined a studio here on gaia join?

Yup just it might be a bit harder (or maybe easier) for you since you won't have the might of a mob behind you. (Since we're not here to be a studio but just a force all the other studios to work togeather for a common goal studio)
So if you have your own work wanting to submit no problem.

Yume Yokohama

2. Will the studios get paid for there work or is this more of a volunteer type of thing?

See above to the FAQ, everything is volunteer unless/until we make profit. Then people will be getting paied.
If you're hoping for money up front (and this goes to everyone) then you have to basically prove you already have an established fanbase and basically garuntee us your sales. (So even then you're doing alot of Volunteer work)

Naw I'd put that up tp vote. I'm not even the declaired manager, I just have alot of clout.
Quote:

Honestly I dunno yet. Depends on how we decide to rate it I imagine I'd... well depends on the rating but pass them by my mother or something if it's PG, if she doesn't freek then it's good, if she does then it's a no go? I dunno.

Vergessen Held
Articles, eh? Articles about comics or just stuff in general?

Dunno... Both? Depends on if it's interesting or not and kind of in the theme of what we're doing and who's out target audiance. If we go PG then yea general articles on other comics or school or websites or trends or something. If we're aiming at Adults... Like rated R... I dunno rate Vibrators or something?

Well I'm going to wait until the last three Gaia studio's I contacted PM me back, Or I'll ninja post in their Forum. (Oooh Stalkery!)
Then the front page here is going to be changed to arrage for choosing a name. Which is going to be a complicated process lasting about till the end of April because I want everyone happy with the name and for it to be something that really catches peoples attention.

Watching a lot of Hell's Kitchen and general Chef Ramsey shows, sorry if I'm harsh and cus a lot more, I'm easily influenced.
