My comic, just put the first one up today. MS Toons

This was the first one, like I said and was done in ms paint. Some of the stuff I did was experimental which is why it may look froofy, read the author's notes and please critique. biggrin Oh and be as blunt as you wanna be, I really could care less if it's something that will help me.

My highest concern at this point of your career is......who's doing the talking? The speaker isn't obvious. The art/anatomy/proportion needs work. I'm interested in seeing more in the future.

See that's the thing. I hate the way that ms paint does it's text stuff and am trying to find a way to make speech bubbles without it screwing it up. And I'm trying to get used to gimp and how it works and all right now.

The black text was supposed to go to the pregnant woman and the red to the red head.

yeah I know my anatomy sucks right now. Exactly why I need either scanner or tablet, mice suck. lol. I was going to do the thing just all heads and such, but that would have been boring...and kinda wierd, i guess.

Thank you for your review of it though!
*wipes eyes* Uh that's quite bad.

Either get a different program, or practice more with whatever it is you were using (you can get a free version of OpenCanvas somewhere online, you can download a trial of ComicWorks on the deleter website, you can even spend $60+ dollars to get a better version of OpenCanvas, or be willing to spend $100+ on a quality program such as Painter).

I've seen some pictures done with MS Paint, and few of them were excellent. So it's not impossible to get quality work via MS Paint.

Actually, I highly suggest you just stick to pencil and paper for a long while, until you've got the hang of proper anatomy and such. There's really no need to rush into CG, just because many others are doing it. And there is nothing wrong with traditional works.

I think it wouldn't have been quite as bad had you done it with pencils, really. It would have been easier on the eyes. confused

You did say I could be as blunt as I wanted to be. This is as blunt as I usually am.
It's not for something done in MS paint, and with a mouse...
You said you don't have a scanner or a tablet, so that's a bit of a problem... ^-^`
Maybe you can try using OpenCanvas, it might look better that way.
And like others said before me, it's hard to distinguish who's talking. Try using speach bubbles instad of squares with different text color. xp
Miser and Shamdu-- I am well with pencil and paper, I just can't handle a mouse to well. sweatdrop And I don't care what anybody says, gimp is trying my patience just to much. It won't let me paste after i hit print screen on something.

I guess I'll go and give this open canvas a shot. Then again, this was the first...and I know, practice practice, practice till your hands bleed, lol. blaugh

Thank you for your reviews, they have been helpful. surprised

oh...Miser,..what's CG? The reason I put it up though isn't because everybody else is doing it. It's because I've always wanted to do this and want to be serious about it. I did this as a way to motivate me to do my comics more and be serious about them, and a way to get my art out there and hopefully build a fan base or whatever. Yeah yeah, I know, wishful thinking and is what probably 20 thousand other people are doing as well, but...meh. sweatdrop whee
The art needs some work, so you need to practice with that. Also, you need to point out who is talking, because I got confused when trying to read it.
Your persepctive points seem a little...off. For one, why is one of the screens sideways? It looks like they're sitting on the wall. The anatomy needs to be worked on, and the coloring needs practice.
Also, the panelling needs some straitening out.
If you have trouble using a mouse, get a tablet. Its a pen you use for the computer instead of a mouse. Many people say it's a lot easier.
actually you can get version 1 of opencanvas for freeware if you can find it,

it's a really small file size.
Okies here goes my opinion.

1. When using ms paint ALWAYS save in either gif or png, it will save the quality of your picture.
2. When using ms paint us the line tool. It will save you from having chunky and disorganized lines.
3.Word bubbles can be accomplished through the use of the line tool and the squarish circle tool. First use the tool as suggested and make it to the desired size. Then to point to the character speaking use the line tool and erase the line connecting the bubble and the pointer.
4. Spray can is the work of the devil, just don't use it for clouds. It sprays pixels and gives a grainy look.
5. Perspective and anatomy can be improved.
6. Never have a sideways panel if the rest reads a different way.
7. Do a little storyboarding to get a feel of the paneling.
8. Never have pixels go outside your panel.
9. Use shading. A lot of people say that ms paint sucks for shading or is a piece of s**t, but when used correctly it can produce some of the most gorgeous pieces of art. For shading you use the color picker and use about 4-7 shades of a color. I usually use about seven. 3 darker a base color and 3 lighter. That again will take practice and knowledge of lighting.
10. For a more realistic look outline in a much darker color than your base color instead of black.

Well I was blunt and I hope this helps. I make kisekae and other pixel art all on my ms paint. personally it is one of my favorite programs besides adobe photoshop 7. I do use a tablet on photoshop but always a mouse on ms paint.

Probably as said above it would probably best to be starting on paper to work out proportion problems. However if you don't have a scanner or tablet the only way to improve cg art is to practice it.

So good luck!
Thank you!

I didn't have enough time to shade and stuff. And most of the stuff on there was experimental...an experiment which, much like frankenfurter's creation, must die in the end, lol. xd

Actually I was too afraid to try shading in paint. But it's definatly something I want to do, I'm actually pretty good at shading. I'm thinking maybe this should be a bimonthly comic until I get really well since I'm going to have to take a lot of time with this. I've already got an idea on how I can make the words in speech bubbles better without having to use the boxes. Trust me, I hate the boxes much more then you do, lol.

And I agree with the script thing. That's what I'm working on now, I swear I'm such a ditz, I completly forgot about any kind of storyboarding which is essential.
