Welcome to Gaia! ::

ok i'm going to be making my first comic going to be like megatokyo were their is real no plot how should i start this out?

like how should i start my characters
how should i start the comic?
That is unsurprisingly vague. You want to make a comic yet have ZERO idea about what you're going to do. You haven't had ANY idea of how to start it? Bounce ideas off of us, but don't expect us to write the thing for you.
never said i didn't have ideas i'm just saying i'mmakeing it like megatokyo were their is no major plot

While I think using Megatokyo as a starting point is a bad idea in general, I'll overlook it. Beacause it might just be me. But about having no plot. Do you mean you'll have maybe a series of short episodes? Or sort of a slice-of-life feel? Because simply having no plot or direction, it'll probably be boring and your writing/pacing will be rambling. Even if you want a character driven story, you should still think about what the characters do.

Don't ask how to start your characters. If you're going for a character-driven story, that's the part that is important, and you need to think of it yourself. Think of what your characters want, and how they would go about achieving their goals. That's what will get you building a story.

So...yeah. I'm honestly trying to help out a bit, but you'll have to post more information on what you planned to do with this before anybody can give more detailed tips. You're too vague and general.

It's not. Believe me, it's not.
Now I'm not saying Megatokyo has good writing, because I don't feel that it does. However, megatokyo does actually have a plot, it's just largely character based. If you look REALLY REALLY DEEP (and you do have to dig half way to the other side of the world for this), the comic is about the development of the characters. It's just hidden under a pile of horrible.

You may also want to take note of how many artists and writers can't stand megatokyo. There's a reason for that. Perhaps reconsider having a comic without (in your opinion) any semblance of a plot. The result is that people have no reason whatsoever to read it, unless your writing is spectacular, (which I doubt, given your grammar and the fact that you're looking on the internet for how to start your first page) or your art is amazing (and I doubt that, though I admit I have no proof to the contrary).

Go read some books. A lot of books. All genres. For writing advice read books like Between the Lines - the subtle elements of fiction writing, and Writing Dialogue for Scripts. For the love of god read some books on character development. Get off the internet if you're looking for ideas; you'll just 'accidently' take other people's.

... I just wasted an effort-post on this. Oh god D:
Megatokyo is A Bad Comic. Don't try to aspire to being like A Bad Comic.

Also, seriously, we can't help you get started unless we know something about the general idea.
well, you could make your characters be childhood friends! it's a bit cliched, but it's still cute! whee

The last thing we need is another Megatokyo.

If you want a character-driven comic, make the characters....preferably after reading extensively on what makes an interesting character.
If you're not going to have a plot, atleast have a setting. You need a general Idea of what you're going to do. Pretty sure you've already got that.

Characters... Well, you need to know their backgrounds. If one is bitter and angry at the world, why? You may never reveal that to your reader but you need to know what it is to have a successful character.

You also need to make sure you put your characters in settings that favor them. If you have a character that is an inventor, put them in a favorable setting where they have access to the objects and tools they need.

Just some things I think about when I'm doing character design. Don't know how much help I'll be... Sorry if you get nothing from this.
Please don't set a story in Japan if you don't understand anything about the culture. Megatokyo is not a good representation of Japan. Megatokyo is not a good representation of ANYTHING, because it's absolutely terrible.

Why would I want to read something with no plot?
Because you hate yourself, Iron. Masochism is the only explanation for any of us sticking around.
you may start thinking of what qualities make good characters.. and of course, the art job would count,too.. if you're good at drawing handsome and cute characters, that may start fine
