NaNoMangO 2009 - Ready to Rumble!

I'm not going to pretend like I know Japanese, so I wouldn't know what is the correct way of translating the characters.

However, whoever started NaNoMangO clearly made-up the name with the purpose of amusing English speakers, given the context that Mang stands for manga, not so much to be Japanese-friendly.

Not to mention it gives us the fun mascot of a mango which is pronounced with a long a as opposed to the short a in manga.

Fun fact: In Tagalog, manga means mango.
So, at least from my perspective, it's all good in the hood. Comics = Manga = Mango. xd

Revised EDIT: It's spelled mangga, but pronounced the same way you would pronounce the Japanese manga. My bad.

Edit: NNrrrrrrr, I really wish I could switch away from the characters' faces for a panel or two but the expressions are important in EVERY PANEL in this scene arrhghghgh :I

Body language can be just as powerful as facial expression. If you want to pull back then use it as a chance to see how you can convey the same emotion with hand, shoulder, back, hip, rib, head, etc postures instead of just faces.

You're right; looking at it again, I think I can replace at least one or two of these with a focus on hands. (Tapping a salt shaker on p. 11, mainly)

^^ Yeah, it says it right there on the front page of the site you linked to, lawl. Because it's a month for writing a novel, you see! Technically there should probably be a hyphen in the long form, as in 'National Novel-Writing Month'. If you think about it in that way then 'November' doesn't quite make sense. It's definitely not a November that I'm writing. xD And yes, I am indeed participating in NaNoWriMo this year for the first time ever =D

That reminds me of my original reason for clicking into this thread (apart from general curiosity about the whole thing). If the 'No' in 'NaNoWriMo' is short for 'Novel', what is the 'No' in 'NaNoMangO' short for? And the 'O', for that matter? xD
