Welcome to Gaia! ::

this thread is just to share what tools you use to create manga, and also what brands you prefer

EX: #2 Pencil, Mechanical pencil for detail, tones, Photoshop to clean it up, etc.

personally I use

-.5 Mechanical Pencil
-.05 Neopiko pen
-.5 Neopiko pen
-1.0 Neopiko Pen
-Photoshop

Im too poor to buy tones, so yea...

Neopiko rocks
-kneaded eraser(I really need this)
-0.7 Mechanical Pencil
-Drawing Board(To keep my paper straight)
-Photoshop
-Ink Pen(The most needed one to me)
-#2 Pencil
-Tones(expensive but oh well, worth it!)
screen tones,
manga papers
micro- ((sakura)) .05~.8 -pens
drawing board
inks (black, white)
g-pen, naru-pen, spool-pen
brushes
and the most important tool of all!!!! pencil and eraser ~ ^_^

and I think that's about it... I use "painter" thingie for lettering.. and that's about it..^^
• Usually a 0.5 Mech pencil (if I can find it)
• Ballpoint pen/ink pen (doesn't matter what brand)
• Photoshop 7.0 (clean up, fake tones, lettering)
• 8.5"x11" paper cut proportional to standard comic book paper.
• Grid ruler (Paneling)

... "Painter-thingy"....
.5 mech pencil, (with the long twisty eraser X3 ) type B Deleter Paper, Copic Multiliners (mostly black .1mm, but I like other sizes & colors, especially red) My sister uses Deleter (Neopiko) pens, but I use Copic markers, so I just stick with that brand for pens as well. razz But Deleter G-pen ink is bombproof, I love it. XD too bad I suck wif G-pens. Tones are the enemy, but I use them sometimes. Deleter of courseness. heart
I'll usually either pencil my work with a mechanical .5 lead pencil or real graphite pencils of various hardness/softness.
I'll use my scanner to get it into my computer.
Then I ink and tone and all the rest with either Comicworks or CGIllust2 (Both by DELETER), with the help of my lovely Xp-Pen (a tablet pen)! heart heart
6x8 Intuos
Painter Classic.

All digital, I guess I'm saving a tree.

Sometimes I do thumbnail sketches on whatever paper I happen to have lying arround, Other times, I do those right into the computer. Then sketch, and color in Painter, and do the lettering and touch up in photoshop elements.
14" by 17" Bristol board, O.5 lead, and various pen nibs with india ink.

I think using nibs gives lines more life. I love them. <3

Traditional media:

0.5 mechanical pencil, Pigment Liner sketch pens (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7), dip pens/calligraphy pens, Zebra ball point pens, Pink Pearl papermate erasers, and Dr. Ph. Martins Bombay Indian Ink (black and white). The paper I use is just some cheap s**t that I get at Rite Aid. confused

Digital media:
PhotoShop, Painter Classic, Open Canvas (for sketching), Painter 8 (for backgrounds), Wacom Graphire2 tablet.

How good are those Neopiko pens, on a scale of 1-10?
