Both are in the spoiler, since they're pretty big.

Basically I'm torn between the softer/painterly shading on the top one, and the harsh blacks/gradients mix on the bottom one.

The bottom is quicker to produce and gives me a cleaner look, but the top gives me more colour when shading and interesting traditional textures.

even if it's just your personal preference, any and all feedback is good. <3

if you would like to read the comic itself to get a better feel for what its about/what the tone is, then here is a link to the begining

To be honest I really like both.
I guess it depends on the atmosphere
you want.

I prefer the second example although both styles are great.

I think the edges get a bit muddy in the first one and, in comics, having readers immediately recognize and understand what's going on in the panel is priority #1. The second example just has that "pop" that is easy to read and understand. If you're looking to add highlights, glow, and other similar effects, I believe there may be better ways to do so without detracting from the beautiful linework you do. whee

I prefer the second, but if the colors were a bit less clashing, the top would be best.
