I think I usually found the NPB pencils in the drafting section rather than the drawing section. I got a bunch of them when my grandfather, who was an architect, passed away.

Yeah, it's weird - out here (Austin) it used to be that the drafting store was the only place you could find Rapidographs and NPB lead, but now both are mixed in with fine art supplies at the art supply store... and the drafting place has quit carrying them.

And the Office Depot carries .9mmx.3mm 2B rectangular drafting leads that are great for fine art. SO CONFUSING gonk

You're in Austin? I grew up there. 3nodding

Hm, most art stores (in the US/Canada. SOOOO not in the UK) I've been to carry at least one or the other of blue or red mech pencil leads. And most Blicks have NPB prismacolor pencils locked up in this...UV cabinet thing.

I don't think anyone in the UK particularly gives a s**t what Guy Fawkes is about anymore. We get to light s**t on fire, burn stuff, and set off fireworks all while consuming more than appropriate quantities of booze (which happens just about every day anyway...) and eating stuff involving toffee.

Not sure Imma have space for my candy apple after the mass of Indian food I plan on making (read this as stir into chicken and/or heat up in oven). >_> I've never cooked rice before. I hope I do not ******** it up too horribly. Wish I had cloves and cardamom and stuff to put in it, though. emo I also hope my apple has not gone bad.

That is our motto out here. "Keep Austin Weird"

I wonder if Jerry's Art-o-ramma would carry NPB pencils. I think they carry pica rulers *glee* if they don't I am jacking the rama part of their name. no NPB pencil no rama.

Sei- wow Small world, do you do any cons out here?

So it's the British version of the Fourth of July in America? Sweet.

If I make enough money at Ohayocon, I'll probably try for a con down there as an excuse to visit my folks and maaaaaybe make back travelling costs. heart

I want to move back to Austin eventually. I miss it. I know my brother can get me a job as WoW tech support if I do.

Uh, not really. I've done fourth of July when I lived in the US. Y'all still yell about AMERICA IS ******** AWESOME. And you don't allow alcohol in big public gatherings. xD You also wave flags a lot and play that goddamned 'I'm proud to be an American because at least I know I'm free' or whatever it is song which is the biggest pile of steaming s**t I have ever heard. >_>;;

Apart from the uni's orchestra. I heard them practicing Phantom of the Opera theme yesterday and Christ, they are terrible.

We just eat and light sparklers over here.

We don't get a whole lot of "AMERICA IS AWESOME" where I live during the Fourth of July. It really is seen as an excuse to drink, light s**t on fire, and make things go boom. Where were you when you celebrated the Fourth of July?

What song is that? This is the first I've heard of a song with lyrics like that.

That's where I find 'em. In the aisle with all the colored pencils and pastels, there's a vertical stand holding a bunch of Prismacolor pencils and Col-Erase pencils... NPB is mixed in there, among all the other shades of blue, but it's labeled and in its own slot. (I live like 3 miles from there and have to force myself to stay away when broke)

And Grumpypants: BE GLAD. It's a horrid, horrid song. Jingoistic, poorly written... it's perfect truck commercial material.

Sei- Omigosh! If you come to a con I'll totally come visit your art table. XD If you're selling graphic novels Imma buy one and make you sign it. Cause that's how I roll. rofl

neth- Wow you were somewhere lame for 4th of july. Here (Texas) they have beer vendors as far as the eye can see. It's not so much "AMERICA is AWESOME" as much as "AUSTIN IS AWESOME"

Also I hate that song, They make my sister sing it in school. I totally prefer the star spangled banner, it more about blowin' crap up.

EDIT: Iianbe- I live in Cedar Park 15 or so miles away which wouldn't be bad if I didn't have to take I35 to get to Jerry's. That highway is a nightmare!

I'm kind of embarrassed to be an American. I'm not against the country, I'm just ashamed to be grouped in with the blatant stereotypes.

When I think of all that "American Pride" stuff, my mind definitely heads south.

At SkillsUSA (A nation-wide competition for technical high schools) they played this really terrible patriotic country/ rock song at every meeting and set it to a slide show of inspiring images. Eagles and flags and all that jazz.
It's really freaky. SkillsUSA is incredibly cult-ish.

I think I'm hitting up a con this spring with some friends. They wanna dress as TF2 characters.

I'm just rather apathetic to the whole (___insert country here___) pride thing. It's never made any sort of difference, to me at least.

But then, I hate apple pie and base ball. So I suppose I'm not very American. :/
