It just occurred to me that I own every single one of Ernest Hemingway's stories and haven't read a single one of them outside of a story about a soldier that was a requirement in a high school literature class.

It's kind of funny to think about because Ernest Hemingway was sort of how I got seriously interested in writing. My freshman year on the high school newspaper was basically spent writing a series of short stories detailing various people's reactions to a hate crime.

In hindsight, those short stories were freaking terrible. I had no idea how to handle the situation and if I tried to read it now I'd probably want to throw up all over the newspaper. The teacher told me about how Ernest Hemingway got his start in journalism, though, and encouraged me to keep improving my writing. It probably explains my inflated ego when I'm told I have the potential to be a famous author.

I think I'm gonna take a day to read a few of the short stories. Maybe I'll try writing something again if I feel inspired.

I just bought a couple non-photo blue pencils. They're really hard to erase though, and I'm scared to use them on my comic.

Uuuuuhhhhhhh, I feel threatened when I meet an artist of my own age that is better than me. That's kind of embarrassing. But to strive to be the best isn't really a bad thing. Gonna flip my s**t when I go to an art school, though.

Also, 6 pages to go.
Page 2 went a lot more smoothly than 1.

DA
Non-photo blue does scan. >_> I've tried it before, and it most definitely scans. I looked it up a few months ago, and apparently it only doesn't show up on photocopies.

Bella: I can't remember if there was anything vital. >_< It did have an animation that now only the teachers have a copy of because of the loss. It also had some couple-year-old work in 300dpi, which is never a good thing to have other people get their hands on, even if the work isn't awesomeawesome. And it had music I wanted to put onto my computer... Gonna have to get that from home again now.

And yeah, they're not going to charge a very big listing fee. It always makes me wonder, though, how people can afford to sell lots of individual things for a dollar. Like a button. 20c gone to fee, maybe another 10-20c gone to actual production (or more, if you're doing this from England =_= ). It just eats at profit.

Oooh, I just got an Angel Imp Potion from my Aquarium today heart

I'm tired. Maybe if I make some coffee I'll get awake enough to draw today's NaNo comic. Unfortunately I'm out of my peppermint mocha creamer AND regular milk. But I can somewhat replicate the taste with mocha powder, creme de menthe, and a bit of vanilla. >>;

Non-photo blue *does* scan, but it disappears when you drop out the Blue channel in Photoshop. (This is also why I draw all my comic base sketches in pink and red - to drop out the Red channel.)

NPB is mainly meant to not show up in photocopies, but some newer machines pick it up.

Hay, anybody else on this forum ever use NPB, crop markers, rubber cement, pica rulers, or rubylith? Or am I just ******** ancient?

I've used rubber cement.

I've also used rubylith... though I thought it was called rubylip for the longest time.

@_@ Cutting out an entire design in rubylith while everyone else just printed their designs for silkscreening on the printer... good times.

I'm sad that I don't remember where the bloody hell my old rubylith is...

I used NPB pencils before, but don't like them. I prefer drawing my lineart on a separate sheet of paper with a light table.

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.”

I've used NPB and dropped out the blue channel in PS only to have the lines stay, but as a paler grey. sweatdrop

Yeah, I just use graphite and then erase it. NPB is too much to bother with.

I do like sketching in NPB, though. It's always nice to sketch in something that doesn't erase.

I had a pica ruler that I loved more than anything, but I left it in the car on a hot day once and havent gone out to buy a new less bubbly one.

evil I cannot find a NPB pencil anywhere, except the internet. The arts and craft people just look at me like Im nuts when I ask about one. emo

I usually just scan the rough sketch and ink on the computer.

Prismacolor makes non-photo blue pencils, but I often find them mixed in with other colored pencils at the art supply store.

If you've got a pure pale red, green, or blue*, Photoshop should be able to drop out that channel with no problem, provided you've adjusted the Levels to make your inks pure black.

I've had to do some minor gray cleanup here and there occasionally, but not much. The Dodge tool usually cleans up any stray gray bits or paper shadows.

* yellow should drop out if you take out the Green channel, but it's not a totally safe bet.

I'll have to try it again, then. Would the blue and red mech pencil lead pentel (I think) makes work, do you think? Cause sketching with that stuff is awesome.

Hm, fifth of November. I've already done my duty and watched V for Vendetta while working on my self-portrait. Now I just have to wait for the fireworks to start. I'm betting (hoping) it's going to be non-stop for half the night, although I haven't seen any ads around for an actual bonfire. emo I want to see a bonfiiiire. I live in a sizeable town/city. Why is there no heavily publicised organised burning. >[

I do have a caramel apple, though. I'll sit alone in my box room and get red candy apple all over my face. emo

Commish me irl? ;3;
Yeah, red mechanical lead is great for that. Hell, I wish I could find some of it around town...

"Fickle b***h. Don't imagine me if you don't stay for snuggles."

Unfortunately most of the people I know think Guy Fawkes = V for Vendetta. We don't really hear much about Britain's history unless it has to do with us declaring independence.

Cigarettes are back. Now if I only smoked...
Have you tried an office supply store? My art stores suck and don't carry colored lead for mech pencils but office max does. *dance*

I'll have to try out the red pencil color channel trick once my crap is unpacked. My art box is at the bottom of a large heavy pile. pif!

Neth- Aww that's almost the saddest thing I have ever read. *pat pats* Now I have a craving for lonely candy apples.
