Welcome to Gaia! ::

Oh yeah, that thread got deleted and a mod sided with him, which is just.. wow.
Ah, damn, I missed page 300. This is what I get for working most of the day X3 I can has butterflies for working hard in shop? =3 Congrats to Komiyan for getting the 4500th post, though! That's a pretty cool round number.

Edit: Oh, wait, I was actually asleep when it went on to page 300. As I predicted!
I can has butterflies for being psychic? 8D I agree that double posting shouldn't count, though. razz At least use a mule!

I have no idea which thread you're all talking about since I never go in the PP, so nothing to contribute on that front. (And I normally have such helpful things to say, too xD)

But! I have a question for anyone here who knows mythology, and we established a while ago that that was quite a lot of people, I think. Does anyone know of a god, goddess or mythological being (though preferably one of the former two) that has eyes in strange places, or else has no eyes but still manages to 'see'? I'm sure there must be something like that out there, but I'm not getting anything from Wikipedia or Google searches, so I decided to ask here.
I forget the name of the angel, but he supposedly has a thousand eyes.

Yes, you can still have the butterflies, for your psychicness. xp

And as for mythical being, how about Argus, who had a hundred eyes and when he slept, some were always open to keep watch(or whatever)? Not quite sure if that's what you what you were looking for, though. sweatdrop

Mr McGrumpypants: Yeah, that sounds familiar to me.
Also Shiva (Hindu mythology) has a third eye on his forehead. There's a ton of different versions of events, but I recall that if it opens, the world is destroyed. Or something.

It has to do with the forehead being a very important place for spiritual energy and such (a chakra); for example, in Indian culture, when you see people put colour on their foreheads in a religious context, they put it there because it symbolizes that chakra. So Shiva's third eye has very deep spiritual and philosophical connotations.

Can't think of anymore at the moment.
*sigh* I'm trying to write a comic, but I'm so indecisive, overwhelmed about how big the story is, and worried about messing it up that I can barely bring myself to work on it. sad

Samael is as tall as it takes a human to walk 500 years and covered with eyeballs head to toe. (soles included)

>_> A strange amount of angels have an eyeball thing going but this nearly never seems to get depicted in artwork... stupid putti... Or at least this is what I am told. I tried to read more of the Bible, but that's not really happening unless I'm more severely bored.

Speaking of angels, I have no idea how I want to depict Heaven aside from the fact I thought fuchsia was a good color... for some odd reason...

Why do I give redlines to people who are stubborn? Because someone has to knock them off their high horse, because OTHER people than the OP learn from them, and because I'm bored. smile

    Since you're bored... crying

    Have you read the message I sent you? D:

I would love to see something like that. That'd be AWESOME. xd

Also, in Paradise Lost, angels were described as(if I remember right) something like "astral beings of light," or something like that. They were also gigantic, as Satan had a shield made from a giant, centuries old oak tree. Or maybe he was so big because of his rank. I need to go back and read/finish that. :/

I did indeed, but it deserves a proper response that I'll be able to give after Monday (deadline for my freelance project). Worry not, I'll reply smile

Yaaay, thank you very much! mrgreen

Thanks for all the weird eye mythology, too, everyone ^^ I'll look those up to find out more about them. Are there any more? I'm just curious now to see what bizarre things people volunteer. Mythology is so wonderfully wacky xD

Edit: After looking up Samael, there are some interesting contradictions, mostly in the Wikipedia article (which is the most informative; the few other promising pages that I clicked on were New Age-type things, which is weird for an archangel). Apparently he was supposed to be "the one who tempted Eve, then seduced and impregnated her with Cain", but... that would make him Satan, or Lucifer confused If that were the case, he couldn't also have done various other things that he was supposed to have done, like held back Abraham's arm before he sacrificed his son, because he would have been chucked out of heaven by then. And if he is covered in eyes from head to foot (though I haven't yet found any references to that anywhere), then it's weird that his name in Gnosticism apparently means "the blind god." o.o;

Maybe that's why he's associated with Mars, the planet of war and conflict. With the emphasis on conflict.

@Void Stone: Maybe you should put that idea on the back burner and start with something smaller first for the sake of practice. Something that perhaps you don't care as much about, so that then you won't be afraid to make mistakes and experiment.
Well religion also has that funny habit of being ironic, so it could very well suit him.
That makes me think of an episode of The Simpsons where Marge is upset and Homer tells her, "So what if parts of our marriage is based on lies? So are a lot of things, like American history and religion!" xd
