Welcome to Gaia! ::

I can go to the ER for free after closing hours at the hospital, but I do not like to do that unless it is an emergency. I don't like holding up the line for people who have real emergencies when I only have the sniffles. It's very bad having to wait for HOURS before anyone will see you in a room full of sick and injured people. I figure I'm more likely to get sick that way.

I seem to have inherited someone else's stalker.
...IRL or on the Internet? Though I'm not sure if the latter is any better...:C

Internet. Looked through his activity and it seems he has confused me with a deviant fanartist called RaeRae-Chan who blocked him.

This is the mostly unintelligible note he left me:

I sent him what amounts to a 'these are not the droids you have been looking for'. I doubt hell believe me.
Someone like that probably won't. :/

...how much things costs in US? I mean...is it seriously so ridiculously high even with ER to just pop in for preliminary studies?
(Of course, it's not free here either, yet it is something around 20/30 dollars per time and then the medication bills if needed...)

(The following assumes no access to free or sliding-scale clinics, and I'm just speaking from experience here in TX)

Uninsured, a non-emergency visit (say, for the flu) to a clinic or GP doctor can cost around $100. If there's any lab work involved, that figure goes way up.
For uninsured emergency visits, it varies, but something like a broken arm will run you $12,000~$20,000. With insurance, it's closer to $40 for the clinic and $3,000 for the broken arm, but you're still forking over at least $100 a month for that coverage.

I have a pretty good healthcare plan, and it runs $398 a month gonk one of my friends recently lost her employer-sponsored plan, so her health insurance now runs $1200 a month gonk gonk

So yeah, don't get sick in America, guys!

yeah this might be something that really pisses me off
Luckily for me, I can stay on my mom's insurance as long as I'm in college, so I have insurance for about the next 7 years.

Jesus.

Here in Ireland, for the uninsured, it'd be EUR 50 to 60 for a GP visit (less if you have a medical card -- but those are only given to people with low income) and I think emergency services are free, unless you're going private for some inexplicable reason.

Of course, in Britain, it's all free, always, unless you're going private. ¬_¬
Is private any better? I mean, if it's not, I don't see why you'd pay for it. :/
I wouldn't know, the only time I had to deal with anything significant health-wise, I was in Germany and their system is completely different.

But if I recall, not all procedures are offered on the HSE (in Ireland, at least) and private has less waiting lists.

The waiting lists, incidentally, are not due to OMG SOCIALIST HEALTHCARE, but likely due to lack of any significant funding for the HSE.
Kind of sounds like unless you had a major problem, maybe, you may as well go with free.

Speaking of which, the healthcare debate over here makes me want to find some way to work "DEATH PANELS' into a comic, just because of the sheer ridiculousness of it.

Would there be a way to make a panel a death panel- not just one where something dies, but...like the panel itself somehow?

On another note, I'm in love with the new Kingdom Hearts game.
