Welcome to Gaia! ::

hey there, I need some advice from people who make colour comics. My last webcomic was black and white with tones, and that ran for six years, but this one will be in colour. As it stands, I have no experience with colour, and find that I spend an extraordinary amount of time just trying to stay in the lines between blades of grass and flower petals, and trying to decide what colours best represent the feel for that panel without being overwhelming. A lot of this I'm sure will be trial and error as progress slogs along, but if anyone had any tips on colouring comics, especially backgrounds, I would be grateful for you to share them.
wow, I'm the opposite, I always use colour in my works (although I mainly do single images not comics) and am struggling with black and white with tones. have you got any tips for ME? biggrin
...huh... now that I've had that question thrown back at me, I realize, theres really not a simple answer, is there? I guess I don't really know what tips to give regarding black and white comics... so I guess I can't really expect any regarding colour...

Do a lot of value studies and then study some color theory.

hi everyone.... smile
I have good advice for you. My dad uses a program called Adobe Photopshop that is great for improving pics or personal drawings. The program helps you change the color, contrast, and you can even add cool graphics.You have to buy it then download it on your computer and they will be some guides. Hope this helps your problem. biggrin
uhmm I like black and white comics with a colored element in each frame (is that the right word? I hope :S)

uhmm Im not really sure about backgrounds but I like to see stuff in there, I dont like them being just a plain color with no shapes or anything, I also like backgrounds that change, as if the world moves in every moment the characters do something... as if backgrounds were alive U_U

for color, I like strong colors, cant really stand pastels. but thats up to you, you are the artist and you decide wht and how u want to show and wht you want to make the reader feel. mmm read a little theory of colour or something :S

Im sorry I didnt give a proper answer .
