Okay guys, here's The Thing.
For the last few weeks I've been debating with myself about whether I should try and revive Catalytic yet again or finally give up on it, and in the end I decided I would ask you guys, since it all depends on your participation, and I can do it easily with this handy new feature. I always wanted to at least finish Domino Disaster if nothing else, because I think we've got a good thing going, and I wouldn't want all the work we've managed to do to go to waste. After that I would play it by ear. Because much as I like TIAN, if we can hardly even manage one short project... things don't look hopeful.
And at the moment it doesn't look like we'll manage even that much. I'm sorry that I let this thread die, but I notice no-one else tried to revive it either, which makes me wonder whether it's worth continuing with the studio. Both commitment and initiative seem thin on the ground with CP, and I know that people have RL commitments, but if they're preventing you from even posting then there's no way you'll be able to contribute to a comic. So in that case it's not worth trying to continue.
The condition is this: if people want to keep the studio going I need everyone to come back, pull their weight (which may differ depending on their position, I know, but everyone can help), take initiative to do things on their own, keep the studio active, and STAY COMMITTED. If I don't think it's going to work I won't hesitate to end it, because I'm sick of dragging the studio along on its stomach when maybe it just needs to be allowed to die.
I love CP, I think that what we have created so far is great and we could create something greater if we tried, but I cannot do it on my own. I can't run a ghost studio where no-one ever posts, because on the internet that's the only way of knowing people still exist. And I certainly do not want to spend all my time hounding people for pages and art and storyboards like I have done, because why should I have to? It's no fun for me and it usually means you guys can't be bothered to do them of your own accord.
So. If you can't commit to the studio any longer, or if you didn't post in the thread when it was deserted because you figured the studio was on its way out anyway, say so. I promise I won't bite your head off. I'll thank you for your honesty and your help in making my decision.
If you really think that it's worth carrying on with the studio, and you realise that continuing would be under the conditions that I've already given, with people actually sticking around, doing things, and moreover doing them of their own accord, then say that. If half of our members (those who respond, since I don't think everyone will) vote yes and half vote no, it'll still depend on what positions we have occupied and whether I think we can replace the ones who aren't prepared to carry on.
I think that's all.
(This is what I was going to write in the Guild Announcement, but the 1500 character limit prevented me from saying everything I wanted to, so I decided to post here instead, where people could reply giving their opinion on whether or not the studio should carry on).
P.S.: Emi - the pencils look awesome. Sorry it took me so long to read the comic. Have you got anywhere with inking and stuff yet?
P.P.S.: Scai - Yeah, it would appear your initial PM got lost in the proverbial post. @_@ But I got your second one, and if the studio continues then I see no problem with you being an editor.
