best size to be ready for print?

I've been working on a comic project for a little while now, and intend to eventually have it printed up, but I don't know by who and consequently don't know what size to format my pages.

I know to use high resolution and all that, but so far as inches. . .anybody with actual experience self-publishing have suggestions? I'm quite paranoid of producing this comic only to find that it's in the wrong size for printing! sad

Also, if anybody knows of a good, professional and cheap printing/binding service?

I think there's one or two other comic printers, but the names escape me.
