Welcome to Gaia! ::

(I really don't care what you add in, as long as it's not stupid. Please spell as correctly as you can and use decent grammar. I'd prefer posts to be longer than a single sentence, but if it's a good one, I suppose it's alright.)

The air was heavy with vile fumes, oxygen itself seeming to wilt. Thirty feet below her branch-perch, Rex could see the beast she'd tracked. It was probably five foot tall, six foot long, five foot thick. The demon was a hulking, slimy, stinking mass of warty flesh; it appeared to be a sick mixture of toad, pit-bull, alligator, and growth hormones. If there was a god, or gods, they were quite sick-minded. Otherwise they couldn't have stomached the scent of this disgusting thing.
As Rex looked at the thing, an arrow flew from a random direction and hit the beast. It melted away, until all that was left of it was a puddle of goo and bones. A man stepped out from behind a tree and smiled.

"No need to thank me, it was a pleasure to protect you," He said, pushing his long black hair out of his face. His incredibly blue eyes sparkled as he held out his hand to Rex to shake. "My name is William, some call me Will, though. Feel free to call me whatever, as long as it's not offensive."
"I'll call you what I will." She snapped, jumping from her perch and landing rather easily. The black-haired girl glowered at him. "That was my next pay check."
"Whoa.... Fiesty. Well, little girly, I'll call you what I will." Will smirked, his eyes scanning her body up and down. "You're beautiful, you know? I wouldn't mind being an animal.... I'd get to see you draw a bow before I died." He chuckled, brushing a loose lock of hair behind Rex's ear. "You're very beautiful."
She had a blade pressed against his throat faster than the blink of an eye. "Don't even think about it. I am not a damsel in distress and I will not hesitate to kill you."
"I only said you were beautiful! Yeesh! Does a compliment really merit death? Where I come from, it merits a 'Thank you.' Not here, apparently!" As he said this, he grabbed her wrist, squeezing it to make her let go. He then kicked the knife away and ran his hands over her body, taking any weapons he came across. He smiled and kissed her lips gently, pinning her wrists to her sides.
Rex was incredibly agile. She kicked the man in the face with her heavy combat boots, and she wrenched her arms free at the same time. "Here, I could say you were nothing but a civilian taken by a demon. I was, well... too late." Her tone was ice, her black eyes glinting like steel. In short, Rex looked like a dangerously pissed off demon hunter.
Will stumbled back, falling into the brush and grabbing his spear. "We will meet again, girl." He spat, walking away. He muttered curses under his breath as he walked, and he drove his spear into the tree with such force that the trunk splintered and fell apart.
"Tch." She kicked one of the remaining bones from the demon, turning green as some of the slime stuck to her boot. She picked up the discarded weapons and made her way back into town. Ooh, that man had better not be here about the reassignments of teammates. Rex would be absolutely furious.
Will only walked into the brush to gather his belongings from his little camp and avoid walking past Rex. Also, she had already kicked him into that direction. He gathered the little food he had left, and the money he ha earned killing demons and monsters, and saddled his horse, stroking the animals grey hide. He mounted the horse and rode off down a path. He approached the city and slowed his pace, expecting the crowds. He was surprised that there were not more. He rode to the caste and dismounted. He walked the horse into the castle, where a stable boy took the reins. Will took his things and walked towards the castle. He walked to the courtroom and bowed before the throne. The king smiled, and Will handed him a note.

"What's this?" the king asked.

"I wish to be employed as a demon hunter. And I thought that the reassignments of teammates would be a perfect time to apply." Will smiled as he said this, hoping to be accepted.
The king considered. "You seem fit in this position. Very well. Go to the next town over. I shall speak to the commander there, as he has a rather...formidable partner for you. She will be a handful. Be ready, and go now." He knit his fingers together, looking pleased with himself.
Will smiled and bowed quickly before running off to the stables. He smiled and tipped the stableboy before retrieving his horse. He mounted the steed and galloped out of the city. He got to the town by sunset. The gates were shut, however, and he had to ring the bell and pay the toll so the gate would be opened. He then walked to the prison to speak with the guards.

"Hello, I'm William. The king sent me here to be assigned a partner. He said it was a girl who would be a handful. Do you know who and where she is? I'm very excited." He said quickly, grinning like an idiot.

"Oh, she lives nearby. We'd be glad to escort you to her. Her name is Rex." The guard said. Will nodded, and the guard led him from the prison to a house next to the inn, which was across the street from the prison. The guard knocked on the door and waited, "She should be here..." He said, smiling at Will nervously.
The house looked fairly pricy, but not well taken care of. Rex leaned against the other side of the door, having looked through the peephole and seen the guard. She hadn't seen Will. "What'dya want, Henry?" She called, sounding far less than enthusiastic about the guard's appearance on her step.
A young man across the dirt trail from rexe's house. while sharping a stick with a rather sharp, short knife. He glared at the gard infrunt of rexes house threw his long black hair while he eye balled Will carfully.
The guard smiled and said "I have your new partner here. Please open the door!"
