Well, it really depends on what grand piano and how well it's been maintained. Under the scenario that a both an upright and a grand are both maintained extremely well, well-tuned and well-regulated, the grand piano will be easier to play... especially if you have to do fast staccato notes on the same key repetitively.

I think I only played on a Grand once. The keys felt kind of heavier to me.

All grands are different just as all uprights are different- I would only advise getting there early and warming up on it to get used to the touch. Typically you'll need to pay a little more attention to pedaling / voicing since you have a larger sound board and as a result you may have a slightly more muddy sound than you had hoped.

Hope that helps.

All pianos feel different - they each have their own personality. Grands are generally have better tone quality and touch - though that obviously depends on how well maintained they are. If I'm playing anything difficult I definitely want to try the piano out first IF POSSIBLE. If not, then make sure you're LISTENING to the sound as it may need to be voiced differently.

I'm especially leery of playing any piece with numerous repeated notes if I haven't tried the piano out - some have slower actions than others.

Each piano will vary from each other, whether it's an upright or a grand. I just prefer the sound of a grand because to me it sounds a tad brighter and resonates nicely.
as mentioned earlier, it would be advised to find some time to just warm up and just get a feel for the piano.

i really hope that it will help me... razz

thank u..

I've been playing piano for ten years. I kinda don't like recitals because everytime I get up there and play I get all shaky but. you just have to practice. I practice my pieces backwards by starting from the last measure on the last page and play it all the way to the begining so I'll have it memorized

Like hell yea theres a difference xd lol. It depends on what kind a piano it is though. Usually grand pianos are supposed to be like the best pianos on the planet but sometimes they're pretty crappy. but since ur playing for a recital it'll probably be a good/decent piano. The differnce is the sound. It's louder on a grand and the sound carries out more. If it's a good steinway then u'll love the sound that comes out of that. whee I'd like to say it'd be the same but i can't because every piano is differnt. They all have differnt sounds and stuff. So I hope i do well in ur recital. I'm sure u'll do fine biggrin

good luck 3nodding !

yeah there is a difference...with my experience, i think the keys are heavier, and it feels like you aren't making any dynamics, but the audience will hear it very well ^^; [dont know how to explain it]

The grand piano has a greater volume range, meaning loud will be louder, and soft will be softer. It's also a bit heavier, so your pinkies will be all red by the time you're done.
the only thing you can do is go early and practice, I guess. biggrin
Good luck!

Of all the ways love can be true,
there is one way...
and that way is the sum of all the others.
