What sets Beethoven's work, namely his third symphony, the Eroica, apart as Romanticism, as opposed to Mozart's Classical symphonies?

I'm using Mozart's symphony no. 40 for comparison.

I can't compare them..
Why would you compare too legendary composers? Both were EXTREMELY talented, gifted people with very different work, so it's hard to compare anyways due to the fact that you're not exactly comparing apples to apples.
Personally, I don't favor one over another. They both give me chills.
Mozart is way better.
he also has these great Requiems
Jazzie Onassis
BEETHOVEN BROKE DA RULES, MAN. IT'S LIEK HE DOESN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF SONATA ALLEGRO

and how is that in any way bad? (: Beethoven alll the way
Personally, I prefer Mozart. I feel like there's more melodic and memorable lines where you just know it's Mozart the moment you hear it.
Although, Beethoven's violin concerto does kick major butt.
MOZART

i gotta say, his queen of the night aria, his requiem mass

I dont know... can you COMPARE THEM? they were bOTH MUSICAL GENIUSES

we cant compare people better than all of us- I mean Beethoven seems to snap his fingers at the world with his music

Tchaikovsky? He's just the person i would prefer over both Beethoven And Mozart. However, they all are amazing and brilliant composers and musicians. Tchaikovsky is just a personal favorite.
This was probably a bit off topic. Sorry.. ^//^

Tchaikovsky had nowhere near the expertise, the musical depth Mozart and Beethoven have.

Mozart and Beethoven were geniuses. They were far better than Tchaikovsky. They are better than all of us!!

They are the greatest and will always be the greatest musicians to have ever lived along with BACH. Everyone else... we are all below them
Ohhh, this is tough stressed . I love both so much. For Operas, no doubt Mozart (Beethoven only wrote one). However, for symphonies and piano sonatas I would say Beethoven. Overall, they're pretty much equal to me razz .

Moonlight sonata is my fav too. and his 5th symphony he introduced the unique sound of 3 shorts and a long. Nobody ever did that before making him a legend.
