Welcome to Gaia! ::

What sets Beethoven's work, namely his third symphony, the Eroica, apart as Romanticism, as opposed to Mozart's Classical symphonies?

I'm using Mozart's symphony no. 40 for comparison.

It's for class... /shot
BEETHOVEN BROKE DA RULES, MAN. IT'S LIEK HE DOESN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF SONATA ALLEGRO
hmmm...i'm not really sure...
Personally, I'd say Mozart... Probably because I used to sing a lot of it.
Beethoven, and I'm saying this because he was another guy like me who had anger issues.

No one can compare Beethoven or Mozart, because the both of them had different experiences and personalities. They both expressed their emotions and passion in their music.

They have their own music.
Both have musicality.

So why compare them?

I both appreciate them. 8'D

@Jazzie::
Yeah, I know. Beethoven broke the rules.
Then what?

Do musicians really have to be conventional? Tsk.

Mozart. "Der Hölle Rache" is the best opera song ever imo.

I was actually replying to the question posited by the OP.

Also, everyone can compare whatever they want (opinions, w.z.b.w.), and Mozart is dispassionate and sucks.

PROTIP: that's kind of the point of the classical era.

Hmm.. But all of the eras. I favor the Classical Era the best.

So what if he wrote a lot more music than Beethoven?

Does that prove anything? The number of pieces?
No, it doesn't.

They are two different individuals, so quit judging them by their works.

The C-sharp in the main theme is pretty important. wink
Beethoven. but only b/c i play the piano and I like his piano pieces more than Mozart's. In my opinion, Mozart's piano pieces are too ... simple and happy. i mean im not a depressing person or anything, but i prefer sad/angry pieces xp
