The composer that wrote, La Danse Macabre. I saw it to be a beautiful peice, despite it's darker qualities. Does anyone else know of this masterful composer? If so, can you tell me anything else that he wrote? I'm curious.

Goethe was a german poet, I believe, not a musician/composer.

Many of his works (play, poems) were put into music by composers.

A piece I really like, and recommend is: "Elrkonig" (Elrking). Schubert put music to it, it matches Goethe's poem in a beautiful way.

That may be, but he also composed La Danse Macabre. Whilst I am also a fan of the poet Goethe (Faust, the alchemical drama), this is not who I'm talking about here. xp

Whoa! My mistake. La Danse Macabre was written by Saint-Saens, unless my sources are mistaken. Sorry for the mix up. xp
