Welcome to Gaia! ::

What are some of the songs you are playing this year?

I love listening to this kind of music and I would love to listen to what kind of songs you guys were playing.

Here are some of the songs I played my last year in high school. (our winter concert..)
(I play Violin and Clarinet so I was in Philharmonic Orchestra and Woodwind Ensamble, I'll be posting all of them)

My orchestra also played Marche, Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy and Trepak last year for our winter concert too! I loved the songs, but a few sections in Marche were a bit of a doozy for us flutes. We also played a song this year called New World Symphony and that sounded really cool.

I think my all time band piece I have performed was October by Eric Whitacre. That piece is very beautiful. Actually anything by Eric Whitacre is pretty fun to play and listen too. I also love performing Sousa marches, most recently I had the opportunity to perform Saber and Spurs by him. But I should probably stop here because I could go on forever on pieces I love playing.

I am listening to some of the band pieces you posted and I can say that I am really liking Pilatus Mountain of Dragons. Actually my band played a song called Fate of the Gods by Steven Reineke, so since you like Pliatus Mountain of Dragons you may like that song too.

I played October too!! My junior year of high school we did.
I remember it being really hard for our band to get at first, but once we got it, it sounded really good. Not my absolute favorite though, but I can totally see why it could be someone elses.

We played Festival last year in my Wind Ensemble, and we're playing Elegy in my (basically) chamber band.
But we had a BIG local church choir sing the songs with us, it was amazing. <3

We're starting back up in Wind Ensemble in my school on Monday, but at my "chamber" band:

An American Elegy
(see previous link)

Movement 2: Intermezzo "My Bonny Boy"

Movement 3: March "Folk Songs from Somerset"

We did Undertow by John Mackey.

And in our marching band show we did Vina's Lullaby by Cuong Vu. It was pretty neat-o.

In my independent percussion group (OCI), we're doing stuff based off of Voices and Haze by Hiromi Uehara (separate songs).
The Lakeland Concert Band is doing a Christmas Festival, Sleigh Ride, and March of the Wooden Soldiers (I may have gotten that name wrong). They're all tons of fun, and offer challenges to every section.
Right now, in the Orchestra I'm in. Were playing Serenade For Strings In C Major By Petr Tchaikovsky. (I play the Viola)

It is quiet a challenge right now since we just got the piece, but it is fun to play

I play viola and string bass.
The songs that the Orch. [varsity] are:
- Christmas at the Movies [great for band and orchestra]
- The Nutcracker [Original Version](PS: It's hard but you will have fun with the band)
- And Holy Night. [with band too]
I play the violin in my school's top orchestra ensemble.

We worked on Mvmt 2, 3, 4 of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings.

And for the Christmas concert we did with choir, we performed the Hallelujah Chorus, Messiah Overture, Gloria, and Laudamus Te. :3
In my orchestra we are doing:
Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky-korsakov
Carmen Suite by Georges Bizet
Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony
Concerto Grosso 10 by Handel
And, Dvorak American Quartet
Such great pieces to play and be a part of.
