What are you talking about? It's ridiculously difficult. I used to take violin lessons that failed badly (half because I was so tired during those lessons).

It was difficult to just hold the bow right and keep my arm parallel to the floor and my fingers pressing on the strings to much made them ache or something. I must sound like a wuss, but it was so much more difficult than piano.

sounds like you had a strict a** teacher.
you needed to be more relaxed
you get mad cramps if you dont' get taught how to relax when you first start

its absolutely fine if you're not tense otherwise

arm doesn't need to be totally parallel to the floor either
that would look silly
plus you need your entire arm to bow otherwise you'll get tired really fast

Wait, not parallel, I mean, left arm not resting on your ribs or something like that. And yes, it was pretty tense.

The teacher would take the first 10 minutes of the lesson tuning the violin. The sound of it drove me into drowsiness, before we begin, and the sound of my bow on the strings made awful noises. I think I was doing a D, but I can't remember.
