DMS dead Man's Shadow is an exclusive area inside Dead Man's Pass.
People doing it right now are mostly lvls eleven to twelve. Most people playing it now are lvl eleven to twelve since this area, DMS provides the dark orbs which are required to lvl up after level ten.
Since you are currently at Bass Lake, (just starting) I assume you are lvl four, maybe five.
I advice you to do many, many Papa Saw runs (the second boss of the area) and avoid the flying giftboxes unless you have a crew to fight them (a full crew).
Also, look for rings that give your team and yoruself buffs, like Improbability Sphere and the Rock rings.
