Why can it mean only that? What does the fact that it had no meaning at some point until Gardner coined it have to do with anything? I don't want information on Gardner's Wicca, I want a reason.

Lets think of it this way. Christianity refers to a specific set of religions with specific beliefs. If you don't have the beliefs of Christianity but create another religion and call it Christianity you are stealing a title that has an established meaning. The same goes for Wicca. Wicca refers to a specific religion with specific rites and rituals. That's all there is to it. If you don't have those rites and rituals you are not X, so don't call yourself X.

You're building off the premise that 'Christianity' has to mean a certain thing. My entire point is that there's no reason to believe that any word has to absolutely mean only 1 thing and can not change.

It's the way things work plain and simple. Christianity refers to the religion that deals with the teachings of Christ and the Worship of his father. Co-opting that term removes the context of the origin of the word. The same sentiment applies to Wicca.

Not when it is the title of a religion such as Christianity or Wicca. Wicca means X, as that was how it was created. I can not mean Y as it does not fit X. X=/=y

Now we are just back to where we started. You've given me no reason to assume 'Wiccan' can only mean X or can't change, other than 'It just does'. What does it matter how it was created? Lots of words were created to mean something, and mean totally different things now.
