And you're still not a good debater.

Oh, why thank you. And here I thought you didn't like me.

I'm honestly curious, what would you do if someone else came in here to say the exact same things that I've said? Would you call troll again? Would you actually try and come up with a real response?

Look, I'm not ignoring you because you're a troll. I'm ignoring you because you're a d**k. If I wanted a ton of emotional poison spat at me, I'd go into M&R and claim to worship Thor while simultaneously insinuating that Cu doesn't know what he's talking about. Also, I'm already in 1(possibly 2 if Sang decides to respond to me) conversation about this. I'm really not interested in having the same conversation with another person.

Alright? What difference does that make?

I'm not at all amazed that you didn't answer my question. If someone else, someone who was not a total shithead, came in here and said the same things to you that I have, what would you do?

Did I miss the Wicca 101 beatdown already? D:

Damn it, I always miss the good stuff.

You can joke about wicker with me.

Lol, Why does that sound like a last resort to defeat boredom?

But, very well. I havn't heard a good one in a looong while.

I almost thread necro'd Mortok's boxed thread on Wicca the other day because of sheer bordem.....

The word had no meaning in Modern English till Gardner applied it to his religion. Thus the religion that Gardner created is the only religion that can be titled Wicca.

Why can it mean only that? What does the fact that it had no meaning at some point until Gardner coined it have to do with anything? I don't want information on Gardner's Wicca, I want a reason.

neko wyndy wytch
So I can go up to a random person and ask for an apple when all they have are oranges and call an orange an apple? Thats bizare. It shows a lack of understanding of the terms and the meanings of words.

It only shows a lack of understanding in what most people consider the word to mean, not what it 'means'.

neko wyndy wytch
He brought the word into modern useage. As such it belongs to his cult.

Sounds like this is turning into a conversation about whether intellectual property can really be considered property.. User Image

How can a word belong to a person(s)?

neko wyndy wytch
But your not following the God of Christianity in that situation. In which case calling oneself Christian would be inaccurate. You don't follow the right God. The same applies to Wicca. If you don't have the right deities, rituals, and lineage you are not Wiccan.

It would only be inaccurate if the term had static meaning, I see no reason why or even how any word could.

neko wyndy wytch
The people who call their religion Wicca have no understanding of what being Wiccan entails. if they did they would know that Wicca is oath bound and can't be learned from a book.

Again, you are just saying 'Wicca is X' over and over again. I'm looking for a reason, for why Wiccan can only mean X.

She has told you over and over again, Prophet! It's not that she's not telling you, it's that your not getting it!

Wicca can only mean X, Because the creator made it that way! That is why!

God Damn it, what is wrong with you?!

The questions were such like asking the entrant's name, by what right they enter the circle, (usually answered 'By my right as *insert position in coven here*' or 'By the right of my mentor, who speaks for me', and how they enter the circle. The only answer for that, of course, is 'In perfect love and perfect trust.'
Sounds interesting. I know that in traditional Wicca there are challenges like that as well. Though I don't know the exact wording. Does every one at a circle have a specific place with in the coven? I'd probably have a challenge like that for the seekers and other members of the coven. However for some one who was a visitor I don't know if I would have a challenge like that. I mean a visitor could be some one who was curious, or trying to see what ritual is like before they embark on training. They'd have their own parts of the ritual. I don't know what exactly, but it would be there.
Gaijin32

And yeah, the full duties are quite the laundry-list, but I never had to chase anyone down and haul them back in front of the HP for a good, long lecturing and a vigorous finger-wagging. I recall we were a pretty eclectic group...not sure if we actually had a specific tradition at all. But as I said, that was some years ago. It's been a while, and I forget.
Thats fine. I was just curious. I was hoping to learn a bit from it. I hope you find the coven you desire again. I'm planning on seeking a coven when I get my license.
Gaijin32

I'd take such a position again, though, if it was offered. In a hot minute. I really loved being part of the group dynamic. It's very fulfilling. 3nodding
I want to be part of a group. I really do. I feel that it could add much to my experience.

It's been a good while for me, so I don't remember the exact phrasing very well...but the questioning would start with a command to halt, the asking of the entrant's name, then 'By what right do you enter this circle?' Mostly either 'By the right of my teacher, who speaks for me' or 'By the right of my first/second/third degree' is adequate. Then comes 'It is better that you rush upon my blade than to enter the circle forsworn. How do you enter?' And the only answer that fits there is 'In perfect love and perfect trust.'

And as for the curious, they'd fall under the group of 'my teacher who speaks for me' people, and they'd be cleared to enter by the High Priest and High Priestess before circle, so everything can proceed smoothly.

Regarding other official positions, there were also the Guardians of the Four Watchtowers, North, South, East, and West. They were responsible for calling the quarters, lighting and snuffing the candles at the appropriate times, and all that fun stuff. Not a lot of other official positions as far as I recall.

I really do want to do a group thing again sometime, the energy that a good group can raise together is just stunning. I miss it so badly.

Please. I'm about to wrap my hand around it and choke the life out of it.

They contredict each other completely, so much that I could almost scream. However, I do understand sprinkling some Wicca flavorings into the mix and use some of it's teachings about life.. But after that... It just becomes rediculousm because then they only want to use the fluffy stuff and call it Wicca.

Why doesn't Christian Witchcraft/Mystisim tickle their fancy? :3

Christio-Paganism?? That's a new one on me I have to say. That is such a paradox it pretty much kills itself.

Christian Witchcraft, though many practice it, I see as a contradiction. But that is my opinion. However, Christian Mystisim I find hilariously fascinating. Because they do it already, they just deny it XD
I'm mad...

Very, very mad.

Can I destroy this?

Apparently Folk Christianity=Christo-Paganism.

Ah! You had to quote my post with all the spelling errors? D:

Lol, anyways. Yes, It pretty much kills it self. Unfortunatly, not many practioners of the bastardized verion of either religion understands this. Which is why it is so irritating to deal with said people.

I personally think that as long as they sleep well at night, Then it's all good. :3

Thanks. Sounds like a very powerful group dynamic you had there. Right now I'm forced to practice solitary as I have no transportation to any other groups. So until I drive I can't join any coven.
