Welcome to Gaia! ::

That's weird, it's not like dressing scene/emo is out of the norm these days. However, if you're dressing in neon colored tutus and wearing your hair over your eyes, it's expected to get looks from people. User Image
its cause every friggin person thinks that you have to be normal. scene is a style and most people think that they look the way they do for attention. well who knows, some do, but others just dont want to be normal. emo is a state of mind, its a depressive state and its rude that people give scene and emo s mean looks and talk s**t.TALK s**t GET HIT. its rude that people label scene and emo too. you should be allowed to look and feel however you personaly want. I mean you are you and nothing can change that dear.
Sailor Moon is one of the top best anime/manga ever created. It is a legend.

I lke the scene and emo styles, but I feel like I'm way too old to pull either one off. I really like the scene hair and the little bows they put in their hair. So cute!
They're probably trying to figure out what died on your head.
Or how you could possibly get that much eyeliner onto your face.
=]
That would be because "emo" and "scene" are a plague on youth fashion. People judge based on looks, that's a given. If you dress like something that crawled out of Perez Hilton's a** after a night of shitty coke and absinthe, there's a good chance people won't respect you.
Both movements have an extreme sense of fashion when done correctly which oozes confidence: Something that many people lack and therefore have to belittle emos and scene kids with pathetic misconceptions in order to feel better about themselves.
"Sure, my wardrobe is pure bore and I have no youthful energy, but at least I'm not obnoxiously obsessed with Jeffree Star whilst I'm cutting my wrists!"
Sad
I dress scene-mo... sort of.
I don't listen to any of the music... all the rock musicians I listen to dress casual or look like hobos.

I also don't like the scene hair. I'm not trying to look like a tame version of 80's mullet rock.
If you're going to dress that way, you have to be comfortable in your own skin
People bash all styles, just look at how "scene/emo" kids bash the "preps"
If you can't take the public not liking how you dress, then you shouldn't dress that way
Wear what you want & don't care about what people say, or be doomed to be a whiny, butthurt teenager
Of course they're gonna look at you like a weirdo, because honestly you usually do look like a weirdo. Can you blame them?
Two words: Attention whore.

People bash that way because they dress that way for attention or cannot pull it off the majority of the time. Most times scenesters/emo kids are teenagers, and nobody likes teenagers. It also generally looks terrible: tight pants that give you plumber's butt and emphasize wall-a** don't look any better than gigantic baggy pants that give you plumber's butt and emphasize wall-a**. Generally, teenagers who dress in this style have low self-esteem and don't carry themselves well, making them easier targets for harassment.

EDIT: I personally appreciate seeing people who genuinely enjoy what they wear and have fun with it instead of seeing people try too hard to fit into a mould. Converse shoes are not comfortable - Pumas are, Prowings are, and it is obviously more about style because I have yet to find one person who genuinely finds Converse comfortable.
