Who the f-ck cares what it's called when same sex couples find a partner. It's silly to get stuck up on it, if someone's against same sex couples, they aren't going to become any more tolerant if the partnership of gays is called 'marriage' or not, and the gays shouldn't give a fudge and should be glad they've got a partner.

Some improvements are unnecessarily. They are only seen as improvements because people can put in less effort to get something done. If by doing so we get fatter, are we actually improving? More efficient maybe, but at what costs?

I think that what Lost means is that you're against change in words, which means you could be against change in general. Change has generally been good for humanity, allowing us to advance as a species.

And words have been changing for thousands of years, so much so that they become obsolete and replaced. How is having a new word for an old definition any different from having a new definition for an old word?

It's different because you have less ambiguity? So what is said actually means what one means to say and no more?

And change isn't always good. The Americans want to change Iraq's government. That's not exactly going too well.

The same sex couples do. They fight for the right to be married and be recognized as a married couple under the law. They're not fighting to be something entirely different. And personally I'd be more accepting of same sex marriages if they were called something else. Why? Because I have no qualms with homosexual unions. I have issues with the butchering of the language.

And we clearly don't all understand what marriage is or else people wouldn't be fighting over rights to get married.

I'm arguing for whatever the current definition is. And I'm saying people need to stop changing the language if we're going to have ambiguity and what we say is no longer perceived as what we mean to say. And I said look at Babel; they didn't go too well when communication broke down.

Don't be narrow-minded. This affects more than just normal marriages. This is about communication, and like the example I gave, a break down of communication leads to the destruction of a civilization.

I'm surprised you didn't put that in quotes, because this means you agree that what I consider a valid marriage is normal to you, and any sort of marriage not involving one man and one woman is abnormal in comparison.
