If this was the truth, people would go out of their way to reject, say, a "hot-bodied" person with heart disease. But that does not happen.

I have no problem with people being attracted to particular body types and being turned off by other body types, but have enough intellectual integrity to own your preference. Don't attempt to excuse the preference as some type of biological drive.

Magazines, Hollywood and Media mrgreen

From someone who is a size 14 and gets body shamed all the time (and no I will never be any smaller because of my genetics. I can't magicly change the size of my hips or the rest of my bone structure for that matter)

It is the models, media and people being damn shallow. No one actually wants to get to know someone anymore, it is "Over a size 2.. Ok fatty do not want" And believe me it gets annoying hearing the words "well she is cute in the face" all the time. I really want to say "Well you're a shallow a*****e. But then again I could be completely wrong but we will never know."

And really if you are going to judge someone on their weight or size, you will get it right back at you because people see you as a shallow d**k or b***h.

What is so disheartening is that many people who "compliment" plus-size people by saying things like, "You've got such a pretty face," or "You'd be a knockout if you lost X pounds" honestly have good intentions and have no idea how insulting such comments are. It's the equivalent of saying, "You're not beautiful. You're almost beautiful, but you can never really deserve to be beautiful unless your dress size runs in the single digits."

Imagine telling someone they could never be "really beautiful" unless they met a particular height requirement, or something equally ludicrous.

Most "hot' insecure people (like yourself) tend to be more influenced to smoke and do drugs to fit in more with the "in' crowd they tend to hang out with. Doesn't sound healthy to me.

I blame food.

Now, seriously.

I don't judge people for their looks/size.
I just get concerned about how big people will take care of the issues that comes with it.

Sames goes to someone that is extremely thin.

Why do people talk about it?

Not enough self-education.

Media, TV and all the other stuff are a big influence, indeed.
But those aren't the only resources you get to build yourself [Even though, it seems to be like that nowadays.]

People need to search more about it, and get informed about how stupid their arguments are.

I'm not hot.

I don't smoke.

I don't do drugs.

I'm not part of the "in" crowd.

But I'm more or less insecure, though.

Well, this is certainly another topic...

Not everyone smokes or do drugs to "fit in".

I hope you know that.
Years and years of societal conditioning that women can't control themselves (and therefore needed men to control them instead, ie, patriarchy). For years women were bodies and men were minds, that's just how it was.

Well, the idea that women need a man to control them is slowly fading away from society but the idea that women have more trouble controlling themselves is still prevalent. A thin woman can control herself, a thin woman is almost as good as a man.

False. Insecure people, no matter their size, tend to do those things. Fat, thin, short, tall, black, latino, white. The only thing they have in common is being insecure about themselves. Please don't assume that it's thin insecure people who do those things only. And not everyone who does drugs are insecure. Some people do it for entirely separate reasons. Please gain an education.

On topic:

Why am I so obsessed with weights and sizes and numbers? I have no idea where it stems from, but it's a sickness in my mind that I can't get rid of and it's all consuming of my life.

I agree & disagree with you.
For many years, women were, indeed, seen as "bodies" and the house keeping ladies and mothers.
Not someone who could think for themself or to get a job.
Someone weak, who can't do anything else, but that.

The men were recognized by their strength/knowladge, they actually had the liberty to get to know the world, to be who he wanted to be and he would be seen by society like a wise man.

The idea is slowly fading away, certainly, because strength it's not the same as knowladge, and, step by step, society is opening their mind.
Women are just as needed as men are.

We all need each other right now, that's a point.

Now, saying that a thin woman is almost good as a man, it depends on your perspective.
Is it because the thin woman has the self-esteem to show the world what she is capable of? Because, there are big girls that don't have problem with their bodies and still can make a difference.

Dear, you're looking at a very small perspective, that is your school against the world.

And even in your school, there could be people that were trying those for different reasons, not to fit in.

Not always. Just because you are skinny and sexy doesn't mean you're healthy.
