Well, I assume the 2b cap was there ever since gold was a thing, and when Gaia started out 11 years ago, they probably had no idea they end up here and now.

I think a similar thing happened a while ago, when an arbitrary 'item limit' was reached.
Someone had added a code to allowed the item ID number to go up to roughly 64k.
When that was reached, the site bugged out, and they had to fix it.
So the original coder never figured that the site would ever hold more than 64k of unique items.
But then it did. lol
And we're well past that point now, too.

Well, the 2.1b wasn't a 'hard cap'.
People could actually hold more than that, for a short time, after which it would just disappear and go back to 2.1b.
So, it was definitely a strange code, and definitely needed an update. 3nodding
