Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, at recommendation of my sister. Mostly because I like the classics, and the Victorian age.
Hey there! I'm completely not in the right place, I know... but Vogue Muffin___x, who this is directed at, asked me to let her know if I found any books of the Japanese fantasy variety... I'd love to let her know, but her PMs are set to private wink

Vogue Muffin___x,
I noticed you posted after me in the book recommendation thread saying you were looking for the same sort of book I am. Have you ever read Lian Hearn's "Tales of the Otori" trilogy? It's not entirely fantasy... (at least, it isn't the kind of Japanese fantasy I'm looking for... don't know about you wink ) but even so, it's pretty amazing. If you haven't, check it out. The first book is "Across the Nightingale Floor". whee
Good Omens.

Almost done.

Actually, I'm typing this on my friend's account, and she's the one who loaned me the book... so...

... : D

It's like...her favorite book of all time, or something. She's obSESSed.
I'm currently reading City of Bones by... uh... I don't remember (and I'm too lazy to go grab the book right now). I've been trying for a while to find a modern book which incorporates mythological creatures (particularly vampires), and have failed horribly so far in finding one that was actually well-written. City of Bones is beginning to look promising, however.

And now that Floppy has mentioned it, I need to check out Good Omens. I've also got a friend that's obsessed with it, and he says it's a pretty good book...
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

The basic premise of the book is that this boy, Daniel, finds a copy of a book by someone named Julian Carax and becomes obsessed with finding more of the unknown author's work. Things pretty much go crazy after he finds out that he may very well have the last Carax book in existence. It turns out someone calling himself by the name of the devil character in the mysterious book Daniel found has been going around for years finding every copy of every book Julian Carax ever wrote and burning them.

It all takes place in 1940's Barcelona, and the characters are diverse and interesting, not to mention everyone seems to have a secret they aren't telling. I'm only half way through, and already so much has happened. Parts of it have left me tittering out loud in the library, and others have really renewed my fear of the dark. The irritating thing is that, for a book that moves so fast, it's a slow read. The subplots have subplots, and then some. I'd definitely recommend it, though!

Oooh! That's the book I'm going to read after I've finished 'Before I die'.

Is it any good?

This is weird haha, people on here keep mentioning books that I've bought to read over the summer.
I'm glad you've said that you'd recommend it, it sounds like one of the better books on my 'to read' list 3nodding
NOTHING REALLY....MY BOOKS AT SCHOOL
Smartbomb by Heather Chaplin and Aaron Ruby. The tagline for the book is "The quest for art, entertainment, and big bucks in the videogame revolution." It's all about how video games got their start. It's a pretty interesting read.

Jane Eyre is one of the best books I've ever read. It's much like Jane Austen's books (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, etc.).

I'm reading The World According to Garp by Irving right now. It's decent.

Yeah, I've read Pride and Prejudice, and that was good. I'm looking forward to reading it smile

I'm reading Before I die by Jenny Downham, and it's alright. Not keen on the writing style though.

I'm reading Skin Trade by Laurell K. Hamilton her newest book that just came out. So far it's pretty good! It brought back all my favorite characters from my favorite in the series, Obsidian Butterfly. I'm about 140 pages into it so far.

After this I'll probably finish reading my Douglas Adams collection, I only have Mostly Harmless left to read!

***Go Team Edward!....err...Ted Forrester, Lol!***
I'm currently (still) reading Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony.
I really should get to finishing it soon; so I can get onto The Time Paradox.
