I know several people who were good strait A students as virgins, but slept with one other person and they became horribly slutty and their grades and life went downhill. I cannot name how many times I've watched this happen.

Anecdotal evidence cannot be verified and is not likely to be an accurate representation of the population as a whole. Try some, you know, actual evidence?

What utter bullshit. How do I know, you ask? Because I used to be one. I was in the AP program in my high school. I graduated with an advanced diploma (the highest standard my school awarded) and entered university with a total of 21 credit hours. The fact that I was a virgin had nothing to do with that, and believe me it was not for lack of trying, the fact that the smartest people in school also tend to be amongst the most socially inept, might.

People like to view sex and love as a combination. Sex and marriage.
First of all, marriage has lost whatever "sanctity" it had, even it even had any sanctity in it. People get arranged to be married, people get married while drunk in Vegas or for money. It's wonderful if two people are getting married because they're in love, and I have no problems about that.
Onto that, I don't think that sex needs to wait until marriage, for the reasons I posted above. Marriage doesn't guarantee you'll love someone.Love and lust are very different from each other, however, I believe sex should wait until you're in love and ready for it. If you cannot accept the fact that there is TONS of responsibility involved in both parts, then you're not ready. If you have doubts, you're not ready.
Summing it up, I believe sex should be for when you're in love and ready, not marriage.

Virginity should be revered as a good thing. A virgin is alot more likely to be successful in life becuase we are more focused and not being constantly distracted by constantly having to have sex or constantly having to get laid or have a boyfriend/girlfriend. We're independent and able to function without.

In all honesty, I don't care about maintaining virginity or having an active sex life. Yes, I am a virgin, but I don't flaunt it in a 'holier than thou' way, nor do I obsess over finding at least someone to ********. I despise the way society makes sex seem like the answer to every single problem you've ever had, or something that if practiced outside of marriage will make your genitals fall off.

i am a virgin. i have an arranged marriage. two things that people have alot of problems with.

its funny. i am quite happy being a virgin. i dont need some guy in my bed to have life experiance. ive traveled the world, lived in a completly different culture, volunteered in other countries.

everytime i see some disscustion about sex in the GD or in the CB or really anywhere, then the virgins are the bad people. we are considered immature, selfish, and ignorant. its crazy.

sex has become just instant gratification. it means nothing anymore. sex was a way to have a family. sex was a way to become one entity between two people that had a deep relationship with each other.
im not saying that everyone views it like this.
but it seems like that is the majority of how people view it. instant gratification.

I'm in the virgin boat too.(just thought I would say) I disagree somewhat with your view on sex though. A lot of younger people might see it that way but once people are more mature they see sex as another way to be with someone you love.

I'm a virgin because I believe that when I first have sex it should be with someone I love and respect. (obvioiusly I haven't found that person) I think that many people want to be wanted so much that they use sex as a way to feel wanted. It isn't just instant gratification, it's an emotional need.
And we're all human here. We aren't perfect and we make really crappy mistakes, including sleeping with the wrong person.


Sorry about you having an arranged marriage...I would run away before anyone forced me into a marriage. I know you said bring it on but I hope that he's turns out to be someone that you at least like.

EDIT: Sex is not a matter of losing control. Or if it is, at least one person involved is using drugs / alcohol. I would not even call having sex while intoxicated "losing control." If you can't control yourself during sex and don't want it, that's rape. Completely different issue.
