virginity: your thoughts

i am a virgin. i have an arranged marriage. two things that people have alot of problems with.

its funny. i am quite happy being a virgin. i dont need some guy in my bed to have life experiance. ive traveled the world, lived in a completly different culture, volunteered in other countries.

everytime i see some disscustion about sex in the GD or in the CB or really anywhere, then the virgins are the bad people. we are considered immature, selfish, and ignorant. its crazy.

sex has become just instant gratification. it means nothing anymore. sex was a way to have a family. sex was a way to become one entity between two people that had a deep relationship with each other.
im not saying that everyone views it like this.
but it seems like that is the majority of how people view it. instant gratification.

oh, and my arranged marriage? bring it on. (since many people still think that it is a optionless attrocity, i will briefly explain. parents talk to each other. if the parents think that the children would be good for each other, then the children meet. if the children like each other, they can meet again and again in order to be sure, they can just accept right off, or they can say no and the process starts again. the idea is that parents/family have the best intentions for you. think of it as a blind date set up by your parents instead of your friends.)

Virginity is nothing more of a title for people to view you as. To be a virgin just means you haven't given into temptation if any. And that you don't want or need sex like some do. Sex can be an evil addiction or a bad curse that people have to deal with every day. I myself believe that there is no true love for I myself have found that hearts change over time no matter who you're with. I either live on the bad side of life to not see a relationship last with anyone around me or I'm just not in the right places.

So I view Virginity as nothing more of a title to call to yourself.

the whole view of waiting till marriage. they think that all virgins want is a ring and then they will give it up.


well im a white american. surprising right? its my religion that calls for arranged marriages. and its not as old fashioned as people think it is. we dont have to deal with dating. we have all choice in the matter. i can say no.

Virtue could mean several things. Let's say, for example, that virginity is admirable. If you're in your twenties and still hadn't had sexual relations--you deserve a cookie. Many, many cookies. Chocolate chip. with frosting. And a glass of premium chocolate milk.

I'd say that having held off for so many years is something to be admired. Maybe not just for the virginity, but for the will power.

(Or something that deserves all the sympathies in the world.)

That is abstinence in a nutshell. Sure, you can go on about how it's all about some deeper connection and emotional bonds, but a legal document or a pretty ring doesn't grant you any of that, and why is such a thing unobtainable until you are bound to someone?

I wouldn't go so far as to make that conclusion. I'm... something else and yet I ascribe a good bit of meaning to sex.
