Back when I was really into Japanese culture and was watching The Last Samurai; when I saw Tom Cruse and his companions being gunned down at the tad end, I wanted to fight and die with them.

Is that crazy?

I think it is. sweatdrop

Couldn't tell ya. Never seen it.

Why not?

Because modern day samurai movies just doesn't catch my interest.

This is the part of the movie that I'm talking about: Man,]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQj3hfwZqGw

All I can say is keep your chin up, keep your head down, dig your foxhole deep, and return fire. Hooah.

Drink water and change your socks, hooah!

oh god..water...

My petty officers in bootcamp found out we werent drinking enough water, he had us all line up with full canteens and drink till they were empty. than hold it over own heads to prove so.

that sucked. forced hydration sucked!
I know that feeling. Just before I was discharged (back in June), I ran into a soldier in the DFAC whose last name was literally "Drinkwater". I thought it was a joke - but I was wrong...

No. For universal love, collective harmony, I would be willing to sacrifice my life.

Human instinct will prevent that from happening.
As I said before, those instincts may one day become obsolete, as humanity is a young race yet.

Instinct will never become obsolete when evolution is based on survival.
If you can prove that, I'll agree.

Quote:
Two major mechanisms determine which variants will become more common or rare in a population. One is natural selection, a process that causes helpful traits (those that increase the chance of survival and reproduction) to become more common in a population and causes harmful traits to become more rare. This occurs because individuals with advantageous traits are more likely to reproduce, meaning that more individuals in the next generation will inherit these traits.[2][3] Over many generations, adaptations occur through a combination of successive, small, random changes in traits, and natural selection of the variants best-suited for their environment.[4] The other major mechanism driving evolution is genetic drift, an independent process that produces random changes in the frequency of traits in a population. Genetic drift results from the role that chance plays in whether a given trait will be passed on as individuals survive and reproduce.
Wikipedia? Really?

My point was that you can't prove that the instinct of conflict will always be part of society; that can't be accurately predicted.

here you go. If we were stuck together in a barren wasteland.

Its you, me, and a female.

My instinct would be to kill you and take the female for myself.

same with if you held me back, strongest survives pal, weather mentally strong or physically strong.

Yes, that would be your instinct, as the world is today. You can't accurately predict that humanity will always be so bestial. Humanity is very young, and I think it's reasonable to assume that this instinct will become outdated.

and what do you base this hypothesis on?

you sound like one of those hippy dippy kids who gave out antiwar bracelets in my HS when the war first started.

I've rethought the female situation....I wouldnt fight you.
you wouldnt fight back for her anyway.

I'd eat you instead.

I based it on the fact that humanity is very young, and the fact that society is always progressing.

Yes, I do believe in pacifism. I abhor war; there is no reason why any two sentient beings should shed the blood of one another, in my eyes.

Yes...progressing with new bigger more deadly weapons to help kill the enemy.

Even in the earliest period of man....the newer more evolved species would go in and wipe out the previous . The stronger societies have always done this to the weaker.
your hypothesis is flawed.

Your kind of progression would turn us into those dumb asses who got eaten by the morlocks in HG Well's Time Machine.

Its great that you believe in pacifism, but if a big war broke out. I wouldn't count on you for anything. I'd probably kill you myself just to get you out of the way.

Sorry, but I am a bit pissed off at one of my friends. He is the only person I know of who can go into the army and come back more arrogant and immature.
