I have really been giving it some thought when i am done with high school i may wait a year or i will just go straight into the army I need some help thinking about this. I already have 1 of my friends in the army and my Dad was as well so i guess i will follow his steps....

Research it. and if you do decide to enlist. Get a contract written up with the recruiter to milk all the benefits you can from it.

I was in the Navy for 4 years. My dad was in the Air force.

A lot of people will tell you not to do it, they'll try to scare you with stories about dieing. and confuse you with their political nonsense.

The decision in YOURS and YOURS alone.

I'm not saying theres no hazards in the job. But if you can get past it all, suck up your pride and follow orders. You'll have gained an experience that a LOT of people would be too afraid to obtain.

like I said. research it, and make an educated decision based on that. Get a contract that benefits YOU.

I'm joining the Air Force if a friend of mine is accepted, which is probably going to happen. I'm excited!
There are a lot of things to consider. Are you willing to train? Do you think you have the strength and speed to complete boot camp? To pass the test?
Do you want to be on the ground? Would you rather be in the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines? There are a lot of options.
Do you want to go out and fight? Active or Reserve? Would you rather do mapping or vehicle maintenance, etc?

There's also another faction that people forget....the Coast Guard. They patrol our waters, take care of modern day pirates, and perform search and rescue. This is yet another honorable section of service.

Oh, there is also the Merchant Marines. I remember we saw one of their ships in Maui. That's another you can research.

there is allot of good and bad in the army. I will give you an easy way to get a good jumpstart in your life. Get your own car, house, and give you a start if you are looking for direction for what you might want to do with the rest of your life. Everone is right when they say do not do it unless you are 100% sure that is what you want to do because you will not make it out of Boot Camp or AIT if you are not 100% in it because that is what you want.

Another thing to think about it that the army dose not have to be the last stop even if you do go in. You can always surve your time get out and use the GI bill to go to school after.

there are allot of good and bad that comes with this life but in the end you are the only one that can tell if its a good Idea or not.

take time look into school, what options you have for that, and then do not rush into the army. make up your mind on what job you want, and do not take anything but that job.
