I'm just curious as to what seperates say a Tomboy from the little known Drag King?

A Tomboy is a person who's actions, dressing style and personality don't match up to enough stereotypes of how women are allegedly supposed to act that they resemble a boy in those actions, personality traits and dressing style. It isn't actively done to appear more boylike nor does it stem from any kind of gender identity related factors.

Tomboys generally still consider themselves fully and completely female (sometimes a FtM transgendered individual will be referred to erroneously as a tomboy)

I see, before I was under the impression that being a Tomboy is a phase that one will grow out of or grow into say a Drag King. As I have a friend who is very tomboyish, competes in male activites, and befriends more males than females but is attracted to males. Just puzzling really.

What's so puzzling about it? I say this not as an insult (because you're not the first nor will you be the last to be puzzled by it), but because I think people need to actually think about what this is really about. Being a tomboy doesn't make somebody automatically attracted to women, in fact I know very few self-proclaimed tomboys who are. Similarly I know plenty of lesbians who are girly-girls. Gender identity and sexual orientation are absolutely not connected. Sometimes (for cultural, political, or simply personal) reasons it seems that way for some people... butch lesbians, femme gay men, but they're not butch or femme inherently because of their sexual orientation, there are other factors at work.

Ah, that atypical gendered behaviour == gay assumption pisses me off. Like you said, gender identity and sexual orientation are not connected. The only relation they have is that they are both facets of your personality.

El Salvador Trans Attacks
Quote:
n this week's incident in the nation's capital of San Salvador, Hernandez said, "three detectives of the PNC [the national police] insulted and brutally beat up four transgendered youths. The detectives called for reinforcements, and just to arrest one of the young men it took 10 police cars and 18 policemen, who joined in beating the youth so badly he wound up in a local hospital-a typical example of the excessive force police use when targeting gay people."

When the other three victims of the police assault decided to press charges with the help of Entre Amigos, Hernandez said, "they were made to stand in line for five hours at the police station-only to be met with a refusal to take down their complaint. We then went to the unit that is supposed to investigate police abuses to file our complaint-only to be told that the police were very offended by our decision to press charges, and that instead of taking the complaint against the police, we were told that charges would be filed against the victims of the police abuse. Finally, at two in the morning, we were obliged to go to the national prosecutor's office to file a complaint."
Yeah, DysPerDis, that stuff ticks me off too, but mostly it scares me. It's a sad world when I have to be afraid to be myself. Especially when being myself doesn't even affect other people, but they still feel compelled to react violently...

For us TG people... it can be a terrifying place out there.

I can imagine. I'm lucky to be a female genderqueer, meaning that the worst I get is a few "bull-dyke" comments.
But yeah, that s**t scares me too. I just have a strong desire to give those cops, etc. a taste of their own medicine.

That's terrible.

You'd think Stonewall would have changed all that, but evidently it didn't. sad

Well, I'm not so sure of the effects Stonewall would have on El Salvador- I mean, the countries in which it did have a major effect were those with strong cultural ties to the US. Last time I checked, El Salvador didn't have the same cultural ties with the US as, say, Canada or the UK.
Can I ask what might be a stupid question (I'm sorry if it is, I'm just looking for an answer and I dont know who to ask)?

Is it possible for a man to be born, uncomfortable with his sex, feeling that he should have been a woman, but still have feelings for women?
Like, he is a lesbian trapped in a man's body?
or vice versa?
That's horrible. Ugh stuff like this makes me sick, it's hard just to simply be without someone hurting someone.

it sucks being tg, really it does. D:

Yes it is possible. There are lesbian and gay transpeople. Sexuality and gender identity are two different things.
I dont mind gay people or lesbians, or whatever, but I think that you should stick with what you got, if your born a man, be a man, if your a woman, be a woman, maybe i have no understanding on the subject, but thats my opinion

ITs good that your trying to educate people on a less well-known subject, gaians definitely need educating.

Other than that I cant think of anything to say on this subject, I dont know to much about it myself but I am kind of busy atm so I cant go study up on it on wiki and google.

Heh, some people cross-dress for shits and giggles. My little brother used to wear my clothes and shoes. He really loved a certain pair of 4 inch high wedge sandals of mine- he thought they were comfy (which they were, until he broke 'em) and they made him taller smile
