Which "religious and conservative bastards" are you referring to, here? Christians? That tends to be what most people mean by "religion," from what I've seen, ignoring the fact that there are about 20, not counting variations upon each, or recent new faiths (which, according to the list given, would likely fall under Other).

Incidentally, many of the religions upon that list are not as conservative as you'd think, and would consider the use of fear in their practices to be appalling. Just saying.

Well, if you really think that then you are really forgetting the roots of heavy metal. Not only that, but you are forgetting that some heavy metal artists were trained in the classics of Beethoven and the like. So if you want to talk about inspirational, you need to look at classical and jazz/blues. Those heavily influenced people for decades before heavy metal came along. It doesn't take much to see which artists inspired Lemmy, Dio, Young, etc.
