WAR Board of GaiaOnline.

WAR began it's humble existence on neopets.com ((Neo))
in 2001; since then, as you can see, we have come a long way.

What is WAR, you ask?

Well for a quick run-down, I guess you could sum it up like this:
You have an RP/CP character, you fight with other characters,
if you win, you get the glory, if not, you're glad it's just the internet.
It's good old-fashioned War the way God intended.
Or, the way we intended.

Should you decide to become a part of our band of miscreants, I only ask that you
look at our Official Guild and PM me your bio*. Please make it understandable.

Update 12/2/2009: Myxtery was moved from the T.G. list to regulars, A Purple Cat was moved from the T.G. list to Ubers, and Cyndaquil of DOOM was added to the Ubers list, as well. Also, clarification was made regarding the turning in of bios - bios are not mandatory, and will not ever disqualify someone from posting here, unless they are already on the ban list at time of submission. There seemed to be some confusion, i.e. people thinking that bios were some sort of application that could be denied. Please understand, I ask for bios only from those who plan on roleplaying here frequently, so that other roleplayers can understand their opponents. I have never turned down a bio. ^_^


Update 11/30/2009: Changes were made to the Mod, T.G. and regulars lists: X Bone Daddy X and iCamo (both of whom have quit Gaia) were removed from their respective lists; also, Fancy this Vexxie and jaz_umbraebella were moved from the "Ubers" list to the "Mods" list. Also, updates were made to the first page of the thread, i.e. the "links" post was changed to "quotes", the "event info" post was updated and the first post (the one you're reading now) was changed and updated.

Rule Change 11/30/09: A WAR guild announcement was sent out regarding the reinstatement of the Official WAR Board's rules, which can be found in it's entirety in post #2 of the current page. There are now 6 simple rules in place, which I expect to be followed. To sum them up, they are; "1. Follow the ToS, 2. Don't cuss every other word, 3. Do not spend all your time joking or talking about sex, 4. Do not be annoying, 5. Do not call people names, and 6. Do not exhibit racist or prejudiced behavior based on religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity."

Memorial 10/20/2009: On October 20, 2008, Vincent's time on the Earth was ended. We miss him still, and in our hearts he lives on - that is his legacy. He was a great Warer, and a better friend. Rest in peace. <3

Update 10/12/2009: Because I'm -such- a good friend of Grindy's (ha!), I know that we will be having some super-awesome events coming up in the next couple of weeks. No worries, guys - this time around I'll MAKE him make them happen. No more lazing around for -him-! (<3)

Update 9/3/2009: Dread Borealis Quill will be taking a Hiatus beginning this weekend. She will be checking in once a week or so and will be happy to receive comments and/or Private Messages from any and everyone. 4. Don't be annoying.
Just don't bug people for no reason. Joke, sure, but don't just do something because you know it'll make some hot-headed 12-year-old angry. xD

That means that racist slurs and the like will not be tolerated.

Hey y'all.

So, you guys know that I removed all the rules from the Official WAR Board a couple of months ago.

Well, I changed my mind again. You know I love you guys and usually think you're hilarious, but it's gotten out of hand these last couple of weeks.

So here's the deal. Keep your use of profanity at a minimum to medium range. That means that I will not stand for seeing the F-word more than once on a given page. And not on every page!

Hell and damn I can live with, but stop abusing the fact that I haven't banned any of you guys yet.

Also, we're not ten years old anymore, people! You all should be more than mature enough to refrain from making sexual references every four minutes.

So stop talking about sex all the time. I mean it. It's annoying.

I am completely serious about this, you guys. I love you all to death (and then some), but it's gotten to be too much. I trusted you guys to have more respect for yourselves and your fellow Boarders than what I've seen when I lurk around and observe your little conversations.

So, maybe you're wondering what chatplay is?
Well, it's easy. Basically, you make your attacks and movements
like this; *pokes you*, or -pokes you- or +pokes you+. ^^
Get it? You can even use =pokes you= or -x-pokes you-x-.
Isn't that great? Oh, burrrrrrn. x3

Now, roleplay is pretty self-explanatory. You play your character's
role. Don't have a character? No problem. Neither did I when I started
out. Just use a tricked-out version of yourself. You'll get the hang of it.
Roleplaying is usually just like writing a story. Like this; "Dread sauntered
over to you, her eyes narrowed. She reached out and poked you on the arm,
chuckling as you flinched at her touch." See?

OMG. Everyone, iCamo/Katie is the most amazing
person ever. I swear to God, if anyone ever gives her
any lip, they're on the ban list till hell freezes over.

Oh, and I guess y'all are going to want to know
exactly where it is you're battling, hey? Well, in
my old nostalgic mind we are still in the old clearing
surrounded by dense forest, and off to one side there's
a cliff, and below that a deep ravine, and off to another
side there is a small river.



There's another thing that I want to add to my special thread
(I was the first one who got to making one, so PWNAGE -
I get to choose what's in here. razz ) *drum roll*:

Ian's Place; Pizzeria Extraordinaire

Ian's Place is an awesome little restaurant located
on the outside of the woods. You can make up ways
to get to it - that's not really ever been specified. Ian
(Bliss-Of-Ignorance) is both the creator and owner of this little pizzeria.

The waiters are robots, and the walls are covered with all
sorts of music and movie memorabilia. The booths are
red vinyl seats with red enamel tables - the menu consists
of everything from pizza to pasta to bouillabaisse (if you
would ever want that). The floor is your standard black and
white checkerboard tile, and of course you can imagine
all sorts of other things.

Since Ian's Place was never really finalized as being an
actual aspect of War, I thought I'd bring it to life here. The
details are still under construction, but feel free to go enjoy
the now-official War Restaurant. w00t!

... In a room behind the counter in the diner there is
what has come to be known as The Dark Emo Corner.
Behind a plain black door adorned with only a silver
door handle there is a cool place devoid of light where
people can go if they are feeling particularly sad or
antisocial. Dread will eventually fix it up to where it can
be accessed from the clearing and so that it is more
comfortable. You can get to it via teleporting from the
clearing, through the Magic Portal Tree of Wonder, or by
simply walking inside the diner and through the door located
in the back of the diner.

The Magic Portal Tree of Wonder

Brought to life by our own dear Katie (iCamo), the Magic Tree is a
portal to different terrains and places. It is hollowed through with
openings big enough to walk through on both ends. When you enter
into it then pass through the other side, you will find yourself to be
in a different area then the one you came from before you went into
the tree! Does that make sense? Well, even if it doesn't: three
cheers for awesomousness! (Note: The tree will eventually have
a name. We're working on that.)

Weapons: Pretty much anything that's around her...as she's telekinetic. Her father is a US army Colonel and taught her and her siblings basic hand to hand combat and self defense. But her favorite is an old broom handle she grabbed off the porch one day to stop a guy from kidnapping her sister. But that's another story...

Short Bio and/or picture (picture not required, bio encouraged): She's your average 15 year old, brown shoulder length hair, grey eyes. But in her mutant form, she seems to get much paler, almost white and develop scaley skin, her ears become sharply pointed, and her eyes turn yellow. (Haven't decided whether or not her hair changes...)
She's a creative soul, loves books and music. She plays four different instruments and is very articulate. Her mom died about a year ago, and she regrets not being able to prevent it. Her father is very distant and disapproves of the arts as a serious career choice. He also HATES mutants, as they are a growing nuisance in the world of politics and military. Her older brother, whom she idolizes is currently away at military school, and her little sister is a brat. None of her family knows her secret.

We are warriors trapped in time

Well, if anyone wants to read my opinion (not open for discussion),
if people want to start posting and coming back, they will.
I think the problem is that everyone got older and realized there's more to life than a computer screen filled with imaginary things happening. If they want to rleplay, go ahead... do it. But we can connect over other things than the board if anyone seriously wants to keep in contact with anyone. I'm guessing that's why Dread made the facebook thread in the guild.

This place has its memories, sure.
But, in all honesty, it's not going to be the same again.
It's never going to be as active,
nor is it going to have the same old people we grew to love (or hate?).
Sooooooooooo.
Chill. Really. It's great for whoever wants to come back,
but if they came back to talk to their old friends; get a facebook.
Or a myspace. Something.

Dreadful Death Scythe

:p It really does sound silly if you look back on it. a bunch of kids fighting threw text on a site that has possibly the worst name possible. This entire thing was created with imagination of children who saw it as a place to talk and fight. :p maybe that’s why I hated WAR so much, just the thought that I wasted so much time on it. So in all fairness I guess your right it’s not dead it's simply become a distant memory. In that retrospect WAR isn't dead it is simply waiting for the next gen of people that need it to protect and nourish their childhood. To me WAR isn't just some forum that I spent my life on, it's the friend that helped us mature, it's the challenge that made us strive to succeed, its the symbol of hope that helped us get up when life knocked us down. Now as I grow older I grow apart from my cyber home, the real world is calling me and I cant ignore it. So to WAR I thank you for all that you have given me. May you continue to help those who wander into your world. To conclude this long boring post I take my last look at this beautiful place, may it always live in the hearts of everyone who ever called WAR home.
