*....abruptly awakens. Looks around wildly and takes deep breaths*
Dammit!
*continues yelling profanites at myself for being so stupid and falling asleep....*
*...notices how hot it suddenly feels*
What the...
*jumps up and cautiously walks away from the protection of the old tree*
o.o Holy-
*flounders for words, while trying to make sense of my surroundings. Still in shock, watches the wind slowly changing the size of the enormous dunes, the sun beating down mercilessly all the while*
...so it seems the oak is some sort of portal.
*turns quickly to make sure it's still there. Sighs with relief at the site of the drooping branches*
Ok...so I have no idea where I am or how long I have been gone or still AM gone...
*shakes head to try and clear the dizziness. Stares out over the vastly empty desert*
Wonder why it leads here...
*decides there is nothing of real interest here besides the fact that I wasn't here this morning and heads back to the tree*
I wonder how this works...do I have to wait for awhile. Fall asleep again? Maybe go out the other side?
*looks through the arch way in front of me and blinks a few times, hoping the desert scene will morph into the forest again....sighs and sits*
Guess I'll just have to wait then---
*gasps and looks through the side I just entered. Instead of sand or even a leaf blowing in the wind, a confused looking prairie dog chirps at me*
Ok...I guess it's random then.
*looks back through the other side and sees the desert...*
Ok, so once I leave the tree, the other side changes. So, I guess I have to keep leaving to eventually get back.
*takes a deep breath and steps out to the sweet prairie breeze cooling my face*
Guess there's no reason not to explore while I'm here...as long as I remember the way back to the tree.
*swallows fearfully and crosses fingers, stepping farther into the unknown...*
