I dislike the 3DS. It hurts my eyes. I was playing with it at Best Buy contemplating getting it so I could play Ocarina of Time, but I decided it wasn't worth the headache. I know you can turn it off but that defeats the purpose of a 3DS

I don't use it all the time for the same reason, sometimes I play with just "partial 3d". The quality of the game is still excellent however.

3D's nice as an option, but IMO it shouldn't be about that. It's the main selling point of the 3DS obviously, but I think I'd rather get the system for the graphics and the games that come out on it, not some silly gimmick that feels like just another fad.

It's kind of like...yeah sure, the motion controls of the Wii seemed super slick and were appealing in concept, but that's not why I wanted to get one. A lot of my favorite franchises are strictly Nintendo, so I wanted to play their next installments. The motion controls were just a side thing to me.

It's like you go to the kitchen and make a sandwich because it's ingrained in you and you honestly enjoy making sandwiches, but then you realize you get to eat it too, ya know?

rofl rofl rofl @Vionus: Right, I agree. 3D is dumb anyway. It's not cool in movies and its not cool on gaming systems or phones or whatever else they're trying to sell. The only reason I'd ever get the 3DS is for Ocarina of Time so I could play it on the go instead of having to fire up the ol' N64. Just ticks me off they had to release OoT on the 3DS, why couldn't they have done it on the regular DS. crying crying

Yeah, I still feel like even partial 3D ruins the point of it and you're wasting your money on something that is used the same as a DS or DSI or whatever.

The original DS doesn't really have the engine for OoT.

'Tis all about the graphics yo. Hardware wise the 3DS is superior to the original DS even without the 3D. They could have done OoT on the original DS, but it would have looked like crap. Like I said, the 3D's a gimmick, and on the surface it's what makes the system sell, but the real firepower is the upgraded hardware that helps run better games faster and smoother than the original DS ever could.

At least, I think it runs them smoother. I haven't played one yet, so Iono.

Everything about the 3ds is smoother. It makes the DS look like a joke. It has a function that allows you to sync up with another ds or 3ds for that matter and "download" the game they are playing to play with or some sort of thing, but basically for DS games its the DS OS (operating system) and it looks like crap now in relative comparison to the 3ds os. The 3ds is basically Nintendo's version of a PSP but better. (I have a psp, I can say that.) No longer are the days when you'd have to hack your DS for music or some such.

I stand by it, and other remakes/future titles that will be on it. While OoT made it appealing, it wasn't my only consideration in getting it, but instead what made me say, I want this now, rather than waiting to get it later. Either way, I was intent on getting it.

Considering I don't have access to my N64 anymore and I despise playing it on my laptop without the use of an analog stick, it was the perfect option for me. So, no, and as Olivetess clarified, it is nothing like the DS, even taking away the 3d. It's better.
