Dictionary wasn't given to us through God. It was written by falwed, sinnful men. Which word would I rather trust......hmmmm..........the True Word of God? Or the flawed work of man? I'd rather follow the Word of God.

But the Bible was written by flawed, sinful men as well. Just because it's inspired by God doesn't mean it can't be corrupted.

Also, if you have this persecuted, us-vs-them mentality, you're never going to learn anything.

Of course I learn. A lot, actually. From my pastor, the Word of God, and..........of all things...fantasy novels.

...So basically, you learn from a pastor and the Bible.

Look through it. I mean, REALLY look through it. Old Testement was written MANY decades before the New. And yet.............it prophesizes Christ's crusefiction? SERIOUSLY! Check it out. It's in Exodus.

A). You spelled crucifixion wrong.

B). What passage?

I would like to see this as well. All I've gotten were quotes taken out of context to "prove" it. There doesn't seem to be a passage that says "and when the Christ comes, he will 4 cubits tall with a mole on his right hand, and talk about changing the Jewish laws. He will die a terrible death."

If athiesim hurt your poor Catholic ears so much, don't go to those threads.
This is easy, it's not that hard to comprehend!

Word for the wise:
NEVER call a Christian Catholic. First off: I believe Marry WASN'T a virgin after the birth of Christ. And there are SO many other differences.....

What about the christians that ARE Catholic?

However, Catholicism (not Roman Catholics mind you) was one of the first denominations of Christianity. It's what put the Bible together. It's where Christians got so many of there practices and rituals from. neutral Without Catholicism, there would be no Bible nor would there be the Protestant Reformation...

I was a Catholic for 17 years. (I'm 18 now and an eclectic pagan with some Christian beliefs) and I didn't believe Mary was a virgin. There is no possible way she could've been a virgin.

NO, it's in Psalms!! gonk Please, get with it, girl!!!

*patpat* I don't think she's gonna get it. sweatdrop

And, Phanari, you still haven't answered either of our questions on what you hope to accomplish with this thread? To teach, convert, etc?

Actually, in the very first few pages, I mention how I'm just performing my Christian duty as a fisher of men. AKA: Giving The Word of God.

So, basically, you hope to teach and convert the people of the ED into Christianity?

When did I say that? You're putting words in my mouth. I'm giving others the Word of God and if they choose to believe it, that's their blessing.

The Bible is the word of God according to what? That's right, the Bible.

This is circular logic. Get used to it, there's a lot of it in Christianity.

No, it's in Exodus too. Check.

Could you tell me where in Exodus then, please? Like, the chapter??

So, you're trying to testify and/or convert...

You're supposed be a fisher of men to those who wish to listen. As far as I see, even Jesus didn't bother with those who had eyes but didn't see, and ears who didn't hear. There's a passage on that, too.... Talking to those who don't want to hear it only drives them farther away, like wiggling the bait too fiercely or forcing it in the face of a skeptical fish. You won't catch anything that way.

Don't you know that's how christians are now a days? They'd rather take advice from an ancient book and another person instead of talking to God and listening to their heart...

No, that's pretty much it, provided, as I said, that one is serious with their lives. The essential element of the anti-hero, the thing that makes him so attractive, is that he is tragic because, for either things he did or things that happened to him, he is not of society. His burden is a torturous one, and one that we all can recognize and understand.
Not only that but it's the more realistic role I think.

How? We as humans dont desire a life of tragedy, hence why we avoid it when possible. The tragedy of the anti-hero is that he cant escape his personal dilemmas, he has no hope because he does not seek it out. Humans on the other hand seek and have hope in this world, so its rather difficult for me to see how its realistic beyond the idea that there are some people who do suffer so.
That's what you fail to realize. Tragedy is apart of our lives whether we want it to be or not. People die everyday. Many humans are either abused, murdered, beaten, etc. To say we seek hope is foolish. Many of us after experiencing the darkness of this tragedy only seek an exit to end the suffering, to end the pain.

Like I already said, I agree that it is 'realistic' in so far as that it does exist; we all have tragedy, so its what makes the anti-hero so appealing. His nihilism though is what ultimately defeats him and keeps him out of reality in the sense that we desire to be one or aspire to it. For, as previously said again, we are not beings of tragedy, which is to say we seek that out in our lives.

How is it foolish to say we seek hope? What does the act of even getting up, in the face of human problems, which I never denied, signify but a hope, a want, a need for something that fills us totally? If we were all tragic beings who sought tragedy, then we would lie in bed til our dying day, full of potential, yet never acting to escape our self-handed defeat. That is truly tragic.

Some seek an end, but most dont. It is for this reason that, for many, suicide is so inherently repulsive or saddening; it signifies a total abandonment of hope. Some get angry for giving up when there was more to do, while others pity those who have fallen to themselves, but both base their reactions from the same root; we are made to hope.

I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, and I'm trying to see what you hope to accomplish.

So, you just want to 'give others the word of God'(etc). What do you hope to accomplish by giving them the word of God, as you see it? Do you hope to make them see Christianity in a new light, or become Christian themselves, or just to be more informed about Christianity? Or, are you just showing them the word of God as you see it, for the heck of it?

Because most of them use God as a tool and pick and choose what they want to follow from the Bible, or match certain verses of the Bible with their sick and twisted agenda.

Okay, so not those words. But it does talk about a sacrifice of The Most Pure Lamb on the 14th of Nesbith. And when did Jesus die? He was a lamb. He was the purest of all, and He was sacrificed on that very day.
