*Sigh* I do not understand why everyone has to be so critical about if there is god or not. Obviously there is someone or something out there that started life, the universe, and everything.

User Image

THIS is why!
Why? Why does there have to be something? Why can't you believe s**t just happens?

Science declares such.

If something cannot come from nothing, then the universe could not have just appeared. Something had to create it. However, the issue at hand is that something. Again, using the same theory, we must conclude that something else created something.

...See how the ladder extends?

User Image

And why does that something have to be sentient?

Indeed! Science can tell us so much and have a hole in it (No offense). How did this ladder start getting longer and longer? And who put that ladder there? Was it god? If so, then why? If he is all knowing, he would have had to have seen the terrible things man would do. He would have known man would create weapons of mass destruction and start wars, comit genocide, and other nasty evil things. Why didn't he just quit while he was ahead?

Science can't explain the intentions of any being, whether it is normal or supernatural.

Don't know why you guys are getting so frustrated. Everyone knows the ED loves a good Christian debate. xD

That being said - I doubt the OP is going to change any minds here. There are Christians on the ED, and very clever, nice ones, too - there's just also a lot of atheists. I'm not so sure I get the point of the post, though. Are you specifically hoping to convert people, teach people, show them the error of their ways? What do you hope to achieve?

Then there are the Christians that think she is being a fool.

...Yo.

XD Lol.

Not a Christian, actually. I'm just trying to see it from her perspective . . . . Kinda failing, though.

I was referring to myself.

Sure, Jesus said to spread the word. I get that. But there is no sense preaching to people who choose not to listen.

lolz, I'll say Amen to that. ^^

I dunno, it depends on her intent - whether it was trying to convert people, or just get people to stop bashing her religion. I understand where she's coming from if it's the second, but don't agree with the first. :/

Ah, yes, sorry. My brain is moving a little slow today. Hadn't had my coffee yet.

Yes, I agree. I come from a very religious family, but even most of my family don't try to 'convert' people . . . . It is useless. If someone really wants to learn about Christianity and such, they will, but I doubt that a random on Gaia is going to help them along much.

I'm not sure how you fight an omnipotent being. Don't you just throw yourselves against his teachings until he gets fed up and either commits mass genocide or sends you to enternal punishment, or both?

You prove he exists, that's how you fight him. The instant he(or she) is proven the entire universe will poof in a giant ball of logic.

True, s**t does happen. But why? How? It's just the questions science doesn't have answers to. Maybe god wanted Obama to become president, maybe it was just Obama who said one day, I'll be President. We will never know why.

Gravity and nuclear fission.
...
DONE!
That, boys and girls, is why s**t happens. It's shoved out by fission and pulled in by gravity. Then some s**t mashes together and that's the universe!
Why is that so ******** hard to grasp? Is it any harder to believe than that a supreme being, an all-being, all powerful, all knowing, supremely mighty entity would give a ******** who sits in a round room for four to eight years?!
This is why atheists get so psychotic. they're surrounded by people who cannot understand the basic structure of ******** reality. Every day, you're fighting your way through the nut house, trying to keep the kids from chewing on the walls cause they think it's made of cheese, and after awhile, you stop saying "Excuse me" to the lunatics you're pushing through.

I never said I didn't understand. That was just not nice crying . Thinking I don't know what I'm saying.... anyway. Are you sure that's what happened? Were you there? oh and btw I'm not religious or atheistic. I'm just curious.

Ah, now that's an interesting concept. It's the same sort of logic trap as travelling across time zones. If you go around fast enough you can go back a few hours, so if you keep going round, you can travel back in time right? No, because it is the same time everywhere. The logic ball would only apply if there were no lies in the bible, which is impossible.

Snowflakes are complex, but they're just water molecules stiffening into position randomly.
Chaos seems complex because we are subjective beings and can only see things from one angle.

What I'm driving at is that we as humans do not fully understand everything around us. Some people can accept this fact, while others need some kind of explanation for everything. Its just how it works. They aren't foolish for thinking so.

It's an incredibly simple formula.
There is X amount of matter in the universe moving outward with Y amount of energy. As both exist simultaneously, we must assume both were formed at the same time, else one would exceed the other and nothing would exist save X matter or Y energy. As both exist due to singularity Z, we can assume both were contained within singularity Z. And, as no singularity can exist infinitely, we can assume before Z was formed, X and Y previously existed as well, before collapsing backwards to form Z, thus expelling X and Y once again.
It's the rubber band effect, done on a universal scale.

Predominantly, that has been my experience.
If I were to "introduce" you to my invisible, eleven foot tall rabbit friend named Harvey, you'd most likely rush me to the nearest asylum. Why shouldn't I do the same when someone tries to introduce me to Jesus?
