Welcome to Gaia! ::

Project time again for my college sociology class. This class requires us to do a number of projects that involve surveying 20 people on different subjects. I thought it would be more interesting to ask people online given the wider variety of people than I come into contact with on a daily basis, especially for this subject.

So...the project...

Do you believe gay couples should be allowed to marry? Also, do you think gay couples should be allowed to adopt children? It would be helpful if you could include your age, gender, and ethnicity as well (I do hope people realize it's impossible to do anything to you using this small amount of personal information, it's not like I'm asking for your name and address)

Thanks in advance for your opinions! heart
I won't be very responsive for a while as I'm moving and wont have internet at my new house until thursday at best (and maybe not even then.)

I am in my mid twenty's, white, straight, partnered and I believe that gay people should be allowed to marry, raise children and have all the same rights and position as their straight counter-parts. Good luck with the project, Put a pole in, I would be interested to see what others thought without having to read every post... if u can?

My view on gay marrige is that

I think it shouldn't be illegal in states

because mainly our countries morals are of freedom

But they have changed much over time.

But as a christian I believe it isn't something to be taken lightly upon.

And as far as adopting a child I think anybody should be able to adopt a child as long as they don't mentally or physically hurt or disturbe their children into falso morals.

They should love their child and that is it.

Wether it be a couple of oppisite or same genders.

I am 14, male, and am of much lines of countries but I am caucasian and raised Catholic, but perfer myself as christian since I think going to church is church as long as we worship god and jesus.
White/15/female/not sure about her orientation, doesn't care

Should gay people be allowed to marry??
Well-
I think gay people have a right to be just as unhappy as everyone else.
(Sorry for that, I couldn't resist)
On a serious note, I think they should be allowed to marry. It won't affect heterosexual marriage, I don't think that it would be a problem socially, and if someone wants to get married with someone else of the same gender, then how does that affect anyone else, exactly??
It's just two other people in love who want to be together, what's wrong with that??

I think that gays should be allowed to get married and adopt. They're still human, despite their sexuality. People who are aroused by inanimate objects and single people are allowed to adopt. What makes homosexuals so horrible that they shouldn't be allowed to?

1. I'm against Gay Marriage, I mean having a Joining Ceremony is okay, but not an actual Marriage.

2. I think if they want a kid that's cool, but I do think children should go to male and female couples first.

Yes, I believe it is the right for gays to marry. Legaly the government should have no say as to who marries who. The church can rant all it wants about how unchurchly it is and denigh the couples service but there are far better churches/religions/reverends who will gladly marry a willing couple.

I also believe that they should be able to adopt, Gay or not. Children need homes and with more and more gay couples looking for children of their own, we can help clear out the orphans and homeless children we see on the tele.

Do it for love, Do it for Fairness, Do it for the children!

PS. Didn't move to the US to Escape Religious Prosecution/Tyrant leaders?

Hey there! Age:20
Sex: Maybe later? lol Female
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Good question. Yes I think that gay couples should have the same rights as everyone else. To marry, to adopt, all that jazz. First of all their sexual orientation doesn't change for one second that they ARE human. Since when was it ok to give some rights to some people and not those same rights to others? Being gay/straight doesn't (& shouldn't) define someone. They don't introduce themselves like, "Hi my name is Rick, and I'm gay!" Just like straight people don't go up to someone and say the same. It's should never be something that they can be punished for. Gay PEOPLE should have the same rights as Straight PEOPLE. Our sexual orientation is such a small part of who we are as humans, so it makes me wonder why people have made such a big deal about it.
