Welcome to Gaia! ::

I'm still trying to get used to it, but overall I'm cool with the fact. It didn't really come as a suprise to me.
So, I was wondering, what do you all think of men wearing makeup/nail polish, or other typically feminine things? Why is it socially acceptable for women to cut their hair short, wear no makeup, and wear men's clothes, but not okay for guys to wear feminine things?
Just curious--please be mature and recognize that oppinions will differ. I don't want any fights here, just your thoughts : 3nodding

It's up to everyone what they want to do. If they're comfortable with how other people will think of them, I say do whatever you want.
It's fine for men to wear make up. How much and what kind though is where it begins to be an issue.

The same can be said about girls. I mean, it's fine for them to cut their hair short but they get strange looks if they go bald. It's fine if they dress like boys until they start sagging with dirty boxers showing.

But there's plenty of men I know who proudly say they get manicures and s**t. I tell people I get my hair done and s**t, and so on.
I personally don't see anything wrong with guys painting their nails or wearin make up. Hey I grew up in the 70's it was called Glam - guys had long hair and wore glitter for pete's sake - so young guys today want to wear make up - more power to them! Just because a guy wears make up doesn't make him less of a man. Seriously look at Gene Simmons - talk about make up! yea ok it's not the pretty kind but still make up is make up I say go for it.
I can be your Ƭιиќєяᴃәḹḹ and....

For me personally if a guy wants to use things like concealers, powders, and foundations that's fine. If a guy wants a mani-pedi than sure deal,it's a really amazing thing for couples to bond over too. Girls do all this to make themselves feel better, so if a man wants to feel better about themselves and hide those blemishes then that's fine. They just have to know how to use it properly.

It's when guys start using things like eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, paint their nails crazy colors, etc. that's where the line begins to be drawn as to being maybe far too much to be considered a straight guy. At least in my eyes anyways, but it isn't really my place to question someone's choices. So, if they want to do it, then more power to them.

I'm a boy and I sometimes wear makeup, but it's only to cover up imperfections, I have really dark eyes, sleepy eyes, well they're normal eyes just a lot of dark underneath them, so I need concealer. Covering up scars if you have any is fine too. If girls wanna pretend to look better than they are then why can't guys?

Like, full on blue eye shadow and stuff?
That may come across as weird. But if he gets his nails polished/buffed/manicured (without colors like purple and red, but rather, clear), that's fine. If he wear guyliner, as long as it's not an obscene, draggy looking amount, I think I would be fine with it, so why not? If he wears tinted lip balm, hey, sure, why not?

I'm fine with makeup on guys, it can look pretty fierce if it's done right. o:

I don't have a problem with guys wearing makeup. If they're comfortable doing so and feel that it's necessary, that's fine with me.

I say people of both male and female gender should be able to present themselves HOWEVER the ******** they want to.
I'm 100% fine with guys wearing makeup; sometimes I can't even tell they're a guy. rofl

You do what feels natural. If he wants to wear make up,let him...If you wanna let him...GO FOR IT

Personaly, I say the difference is that it is okay to dress and act like a man. If you are womenly, it can be degraded. You hit like a girl, you like femining things you are called a f**, and other girly things are not really thought of as good. It is seen 'wrong' for a guy to dress as a girl because our society really thinks...girls are lesser. But it is fine to be masciuline to a point because really...being a guy is amazing.

So yeah...it is all about gender differences, gender roles, and other feminist theories.
