They did have honor, and were basically assassins, thieves or body guards for hire.

2. Never judge an anime by the first episode. I watched the first episode of Furubasa, didn't like it, and then continued to watch the series, and it was really good. Even bought the manga.
3. Make sure you watch the subbed version rather than the dubbed version.
