That definition doesn't really give a very good idea does it? The pagan path is less about religion (religion conjures images of controlled worship).
Well, for one there's no such thing as "the" Pagan path. That's like saying "the Abrahamic path." You're still left going "...okay, which one?" There are so many different Pagan faiths out there, and none of them exactly like the other. The only thing they all have in common is that they don't worship YHVH.
Pagan faiths are very much so religions, whether you like the conjured image or not.
Quote:
On my calendar (Gwydions Moon Calendar) it says "Our Pagan Heritage is an adaptive and holistic spiritual cosmology. It is founded on the reality (and responsibilities) of our role as part of living nature. It is not a religion dependant on 'faith' in a #set of beliefs'".
I much prefer that definition.
I much prefer that definition.
See, there's that ambiguous "Our Pagan heritage..." thing. Which Pagan heritage?
I don't care for that definition. I feel that it tries to play too heavily on the "big bad ebil krischuns! u dont wana wurship lyk dem!" card. What is wrong exactly with having a set of beliefs and faith? Those are two very important things in terms of having a faith. They are by no means limited to Christianity, or any other faith that one perceives as big, bad, and mean.
And, not every Pagan faith falls all over itself worshiping nature. My path (Asatru) is not really nature-based. Nature is honored, yes, but it is not the focus. Honoring the gods and the ancestors is the focus of my path.
