Greetings,
I'm 18, pagan and most heavily influenced by my land's druid ways. I found the pagan path through research i conducted into the ancient celts. For me everything suddenly made sense when I realised that a higher power was to be found outside in the beauty of nature rather than in strict rules or worship. It gives me heart to see others travelling this same path.
Blessed be!

merry meet!!
if i may ask, what does druid mean?

You may. In the days of the Celts (who were tribal communities in Britain) there would be a priestly figure within each tribe who was the Druid. You might know the modern bastardisation of a famous Druid, Merlin was a Druid who counsilled King Arthur. Nowadays people think he was a wizard, but that is merely Christianity's attempt to discredit a true priest. They did after all go to great lengths to convert the pagan Britain to Christianity.
Do that make some sense? There are modern day Druids (or Neo-Druids) in practice of course.

this is the definition i got from dictionary.com. Im not really good at explaining it.

–noun
1. one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
2. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.
3. an irreligious or hedonistic person.
–adjective
4. pertaining to the worship or worshipers of any religion that is neither Christian, Jewish, nor Muslim.
5. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of pagans.
6. irreligious or hedonistic.

That definition doesn't really give a very good idea does it? The pagan path is less about religion (religion conjures images of controlled worship).

On my calendar (Gwydions Moon Calendar) it says "Our Pagan Heritage is an adaptive and holistic spiritual cosmology. It is founded on the reality (and responsibilities) of our role as part of living nature. It is not a religion dependant on 'faith' in a #set of beliefs'".

I much prefer that definition.

i like that definition better too sweatdrop

i just didn't want to get a definition for wikipedia, and that was the only one i could find. im sorry for the bad definition.

It's ok...

I guess that still doesn't make me a pagan though...
cause I believe in god...as much as I believe in elements force too...
Gah! It's too confusing gonk

If you believe in the Abrahamic God, you are not a pagan. End of story.

Do I need to bring Cu in here to straighten you out?

The druids died. The "neo-druids" are not and never will be druids. Do you know why? Because their practices died with them, as I stated. Stop spreading misinformation.

Paganism is an umbrella term for any faith that does not follow the Abrahamic God (IE: Christianity, Islam, Judaism). That's it, nothing more. Paganism is NOT a religion, no matter how much you want it to be.

Also, your land's druid ways? Even if you were celtic, that's a blantant lie. The druids died out a long, long time ago, and their practices and beliefs died with them and were never recorded.

Which path did you find, then?

And that must mean you are aware that the Gods of the Ancient Celts are closed to you, yes?

I do understand paganism is not a religion (see my definition of it).

Although the Celts didn't record anything their ways are as alive as they can be in the circumstances. I was refering to neo-druidism mainly.

The path I found is essentially that of faith in something more, I never felt there was anything because I couldn't put my finger on it.

'closed to me'? do you mean they are forgotten? As long as people can believe in them they exist.
windy_angel, can you please explain what you believe in. there many Gods that people believe in (Cant go into detail, because i dont believe in a specific God or Goddess, though im still looking into it.)

No, the Gods of the Celts/Gaels made an oath with those people that they would be ONLY their Gods- unless you are a descendant of the Celts or the Gaels DIRECTLY (being Irish does not make you a Celt or a Gael), then you are out of luck, as the Gods will not hear your worship.

Is it really possible to trace your lineage that far? I'm Cornish, through and through, that makes me part of the celtic world. I can only hope they hear me.

Don't worry the pagan path is open to all who seek it. We are good people, not tied by too many rules and such. I believe in the goddess above all else, because she birthed this world. I'm pretty sure you'll always be able to find a tolerant pagan willingly to talk beliefs with you. ^^

I am by no means an expert when it comes to the Gaelic Gods. From what I understand, it's more of a cultural thing, and not a blood thing. Moreover, it's a closed culture. You must be one of them in order to be..well, one of them.

Having a Cornish or Irish heritage does not mean that the Gods of the Gael will hear you. They're very picky from what I know.

There are other more knowledgeable users around when it comes to the Gaels.

ok, thank you everyone....

I have one question to all of you:

What do you think about wind?
Just give me a general definition about what YOU think about...not a dictionary terms..
wind..

well, i believe that it has a spirit, because it would be the element of air.
Im not conected to it well, im conected more with fire and earth.

(I know that i said earlier that i didn't think that rocks have spirits. I feel the same way about the air as i do the earth. its confusing. i think that there are earth spirits, and they just reside in the rocks and earth, but that doesn't make them alive. the same with the wind. the air spirits live in the wind, but the wind is not alive, make sense? same goes for water and fire)
