1 hit deaths. And when enemies can run faster than you, and touching the enemy causes death, and bullets are flying every which way, it's hard.

Now, Contra 1 wasn't that hard. Contra III and Contra Hard Corpse were hard.

I'm aware what the game is. I've beaten all the old ones.
And as I said. Play the game with extra/infinite lives. The games are much more easily doable, because you have more lenience in the number of times you can screw up.
It's only fake difficulty.

Well duh. That's what cheat codes are for. Easy mode. The point of Contra and most older games was to get the highest score. A score that is reset to 0 if you use a continue. You must have had one piss poor low score since you kept dieing.

Go back and play the game without cheats, then get back to us, 'kay?

First off haveing less life dose make a game more difficult if you had a hundred lifes and played mario unless your in a coma or just brain dead you will beat the game. Considering it was programmed into the game, not really. neutral Just a tool to use to set your preferred difficulty.

Play Contra or Gost and Goblens without cheats, maybe play old Megaman you know before you get things like charge shots and dashes, maybe try beating streetfighter or Fattel Furry on hardest difficulty and then there is the widow maker Batman and Ninja Giden.

And on Sega well Streets of Rage, Alter Beast, and so much more.

I mean looking back you don't hear any gamers now complainingabout diffculty and they sell PS2 and Xbox games by the dosen but it is so much harder to get older games case no one beat alot of the games and still trying or they did and it so fun they can't let it go.

Ghost and Goblins - Got to the second to last level without dying once, than karma bit me. I got a Game Over and raged.

Megaman - Beat it without dying once.

Megaman 2 - Same.

Megaman 3 - Died twice (DISAPPEARING BLOCKS ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE!!!!), then beat the game.

Ninja Gaiden - Beat it, didn't die once. On most levels, I didn't even take damage.

Ninja Gaiden II - Beat it, no deaths, no damage. It was actually easier than the original...

Try having these new-school gamers play Doom 2 on the hardest difficulty, no cheats allowed. And no checking walkthroughs, videos, etc. They have to go in blind.

... It's probably one of the cruelest things you could do to a person.

Also another point in m littel rant was to also say how easy it is to play new games , I beat almost all the new "good" games I like have had like two games I haven't beat and that most time pepole spend at a game is a good 9 hours. Like look at Halo, Gears, Call of Duty too sempel.

I only haven't beat is Assain's Creed becase I am lazy and it is too tedous for words. Also Prototype (the lesser) and InFomus (The geater) becase I don't have the cash for them.

Something just occured to me...

How the ******** are you gonna play CoD 4 on Veteran and say the ending of the sniper mission was easy?

Playing with Extra/Infinite lives is cheating the game. It isn't a fake difficulty, you're just taking the easy way out.

The game itself is simple and easy.
The limited tries is a fake difficulty saying that you can't fail as much.
Halo on Legendary is a lot harder than Super Mario Bros, but it doesn't seem as much because you don't have to restart the game if you screw up a few times.

Turning up the difficulty in Halo is alot like what you're describing with the limited lives.

Turn down the difficulty to it's default and you'll see that legendary is just a fake difficulty and in reality Halo isn't hard.

Virtually any shooter on a "Veteran" difficulty is hard. It's not that the enemies are shooting at you when you're playing higher difficulties - they are, quite literally, shooting you.
